Order Seth's Minnesota Twins Prospect Handbook 2009
I just got my copy in the mail, and it is exactly what I need in a desk reference on Twins prospects. It lists every prospect in the system alphabetically with a one-paragraph description/analysis of that prospect. It also includes prospect rankings by Seth, Roger Dehring, Josh Taylor of Taylor's Twins Talk, TwinkieTown, Josh Johnson of Josh's Thoughts, yours truly, and Andrew Kneeland of Twins Fix. I highly recommend this book, not just because of page 76. ;-)

Who's this James Mathewson guy?
Yeah, I got the prospect book a bit before Christmas. Excellent stuff, I’ve learned a ton on my first read. Perhaps it could use a bit more stats, but those can always be found on baseballcube, etc.
Also, Josh’s Thoughts is running daily through his Top 50 prospects, lots of detail and stats on each. Worth a daily check-in IMO.

Who's this James Mathewson guy?
He’s actually the great-grandson of hall-of-famer Christy Mathewson. Unfortunately, unlike his famous ancestor, James is blessed with a 65 mph fastball and a curve that frequently hits dirt before crossing the plate.

Some truth to that
My relationship to Christy is more shirt-tail than that. He was my grandfather’s cousin, though there’s some doubt as to whether it was a first or second cousin. My grandfather was actually named Clarence, as was my father. The pen name is after my father, who taught me how to pay attention to the little things in baseball while listening to Herb in the back yard.
My fastball is about 65, if the Dome gun at Twins Fest is to be believed. I used to throw in the mid-80s until I threw my shoulder out in a snow ball fight. And I used to have a good curve that I could throw right at right handed batters but would break over the plate. Eighth grade is a little young to be throwing that, though, so that might have contributed to my early pitching demise. Now when I try to throw the curve, it’s somewhere between a slider and a cutter.
