A person close to Gagne said the former Cy Young Award winner was willing to sign a one-year, $3 million deal with about $500,000 in incentives for innings pitched but was told the Twins were moving in a different direction.

Where did you see/get this?
If it’s true, I’m glad the Twins went in another direction. Just because the team has money to spend doesn’t mean they should throw it around. Gagne isn’t worth more than $500K in base salary (triple that for incentives) considering his track record.

Right on
I was just about to say that Gagne isn’t worth it at any price.
I watched him pitch an awful lot last year in Milwaukee – at best he was shakey, at worst…
Let’s just say I’d rather have Rincon back

It's in Joe C's latest blog
It indicates that something is brewing. That different direction is a trade. My hunch: Huston Street. Just a hunch though.

I like your hunch.
And that’s not a pick up line.

Huston Street
would be a nice addition to the bullpen. Who would we give up for him though?
Delmon? I’m not a fan of giving up that potential for a guy one year from FA.
Span? No thanks. Too valuable as the leadoff hitter.
Kubel? Might make a little sense, moving Delmon to DH, but we’d need another piece to balance out the trade. Atkins-Street for Kubel-Bonser would be very interesting…and I’m not a fan of giving up much for Atkins.
Bonser-Pridie-pitching prospect? Might make a bit more sense, depending on the prospect.
