It ain't over til...
Hopefully I speak for everyone when I say that we are still in this thing. The fat lady may be warming up, but she hasn't sung a note yet. In fact, she's been waiting in the wings of the Dome since mid-September when we found ourselves in 3rd place in the AL Central. So what do y'all say we hog-tie this bitch and slap some duct tape over her mouth (and get Cuzzi while we're at it)?!
Sure, last game was a tough (really tough) loss. But regardless of who is to blame for the outcome, we as fans have to take a deep breath and move on. Scanning the sports blogs this morning, it looked to me like lots of Twins fans didn't get the Life's Not Fair memo. Mauer, Gomez, Gardy, and the rest of the team aren't sitting in the locker room watching slow-motion replays from last night; they're focused on tomorrow's game. Let's all do the same.
Pavano has pitched well against the Yankees this season (with the Indians). We've got Baker and Blackburn for Games 4 and 5, respectively. We've all seen the clutch playing that even our bench-warmers have been pulling out of their arses when it counts, i.e. Casilla (FTW - literally!) and Harris. Oh yeah, and Joe Mauer...I've heard he's pretty good.
Alls I'm saying is, it's not over yet. It goes without saying that we've already done the seemingly impossible...so what's to stop us from pulling off another miracle or two (or three -- it is the Yankees, afterall)? This is just another uphill battle on this roller coaster ride of a season; so let's all close our eyes, throw our hands up in the air, and enjoy the ride! GO TWINS!!!!!

Yep
Maybe this team has to have a do or die game to play its best.

Not optimistic
I am not optimistic that the Twins will prevail, but I certainly will stay with them until the final out. Of course, if the win tomorrow, it will fuel momentum for Monday and if they win Monday, they get another shot in the Bronx. Who knows? It could happen!

Backs to the wall, time to shine
Nice post.
I will never count this team out until it’s over. That’s the lesson from this season. So many times the Twins looked like they were done for the season, but every time they came roaring back.

something else to consider...
from Joe C. at the Strib:
Delmon Young is batting .643 (9-for-14) for his career off Pettite, Brendan Harris .471 (8-for-17), Joe Mauer .400 (4-for-10), Michael Cuddyer .357 (5-for-14, including a home run May 18) and Carlos Gomez .300 (3-for-10). Jason Kubel is hitless in three at-bats against Pettitte.

It should have read,
“How about Rally Twins”.

We're gonna need an overflow thread for this post.

Of course we stick by them.

yeah, uh, about that fat lady...
not sure if was A-Rod or Mijares.
It’s over. It’s late. And I’m a tired, lonely, heartbroken Twins fan in New York. This series really stung; I’m not quite ready to say “Let’s get ’em next season, boys!”…I wasn’t ready for this one to be over. Friends (Yankees and Twins fans alike) have told me that I set myself up for such disappointment by being too optimistic. Hell yeah, I did, and I don’t regret it for a second. I’ve had so. much. fun. watching our boys this year (for the past month in particular) because I really, truly believed in them, through thick and thin. Backs to the wall meant balls to the wall. Morneau’s out for the rest of the season? Time for someone else to shine. 3 games back with 4 to play? Bring it on. Yankees in the ALDS? Hell, we’re due against them. I honest-to-Gardy thought we were going to rally in the bottom of the 9th tonight. To me, this is what baseball (especially Twins baseball) is all about – hope and heartbreak. The absence of either is an absence of devotion. My brother was at the game tonight and said a disheartening number of people actually left before last 3 outs – absurd! It’s funny, because in all other aspects of my adult life I am a harsh realist; cynical, even. I think that’s why I love baseball so much… for at least 6 months each year, I get to be a kid again.
Thanks for an AWESOME season Twins. Tonight there are tears in my beer but tomorrow’s breakfast is a big bowl of Kix Some Ass in 2010 cereal!!!
