Overflow Thread 2: Yanks @ Twins
Twins 1, Yankees 2, heading to the bottom of the 7th.
A-Rod and Posada blast solo shots off of a very on-his-game Pavano, who deserves more than he's had returned from his offense.
Due Up: Kubel, Young, Harris

GO TWINS!
It was so fun watching the Other Sox lose today. Come on Twins make it doubly fun. Come back and win tonight, come back and win the ALDS!

gotta win the ALCS to make it to the World Series. :\
"Baseball doesn't owe me a thing. I owe my whole life to baseball." -Kirby Puckett
yeah, but
If the Yankees choke where it matters most it means they choke in the World Series.
Let me put it another way:
Hypothetical:
The Twins beat the Yankees and go to the ALCS against the Angels.
The Dodgers win the NLCS and you see a bunch of Dodgers fans openly rooting for the Twins to beat the Angels.
Question:
Is that a sign that Dodger fans think the Twins are a weaker team than the Angels?
I guess I can leave it at that.
Good game at any rate.
And if the Twins do pull it out, you’ll have a lot of legitimate Red Sox fans on your side – both for going up against the Angels and beating the Yankees.
But Angels fans are a different matter entirely at this point.
Just saying….
PS
I’m not trying to insult anybody or the Twins.
But if it were my team, I would not want another team’s fans rooting for my team IF WE WERE PLAYING THAT TEAM THE VERY NEXT ROUND.
No offense to Twins fans or even Angels fans; just the facts.
yeah but people are different
I’d rather have two teams I like face off even if it ends up getting my team a tougher opponent

don’t let the Yankees score this half inning. We can muster one run off Rivera, but probably not two.
If Twins lose today,
Gardenhire is 6-14 in the playoffs.
That’s .300 baseball, gentlemen.
by Evan in North Dakota on Oct 11, 2009 9:52 PM EDT reply actions
In the playoffs.
Ron Gardenhire has managed to get this team to the playoffs. Five times in eight years. One good post-season runs would change that sample size.
I can never agree to that.
He had good teams for much of that time, it wasn’t managerial acumen that got them there.
I disagree...
that RON GARDENHIRE has been responsible for the team getting to the playoffs.
I disagree that stupid early game sac bunts and terrible line-ups have helped win games.
I disagree that poor bullpen management has helped win games.
I disagree that poor player evalutation and influencing the FO to make stupid roster moves has helped win games.
I think Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau and Joe Nathan and Liriano/Garza/Bartlett ’06 and DSPAN and a buncha luck (see: last year Livan 1st half and BARISP) and Joe Mauer and Joe Mauer and even the Dome have helped win games.
by tobynotjason on Oct 11, 2009 9:58 PM EDT up reply actions
My position has long been...
…that most of the time they got to the playoffs inspite of Gardenhire.
But of course, they’ll never fire him because that’s not the “Twins” way.
it'd have to be one really really good run
11-3 just to get back to .500
Not performing in the playoffs...
Gardenhire isn’t going anywhere unless he personally wants to hang ’em up.
And if he does, there will be a bunch of media issues about these playoffs, speculation and the usual nonsense.
But unless he actually wants to leave, Gardenhire isn’t going anywhere.
They should play that annoying Viking horn anytime the Twins get a single
Desperately hoping for Desperate Measures

Oh c'mon
Nathan is the second best closer in the game. Don’t give up on him because of one bad game.
He's been shaky all year.
We need to trade him for value this off-season. And he really really can’t handle the Yankees. Maybe if it was another team.
Wishful thinking
If we dont make it to the ALCS, I hope Torii hits a line drive off Joba’s jizz covered head. FTY
Can you tell Harris hasn't played much
he looked for the wall when he was halfway there
For anyone new: calling anyone a "fag" is unacceptable behavior.
Please don’t do it. That is all.

Metrodome (1982-2009).
1st ever game played, April 6, ’82, Mariners 11, Twins 7
1st Twins victory, April 7, ’82, Twins 7, Seattle 5.
Home to 7 division champions, 2 A.L. champions and 2 World Series champions.
Also home to the Vikings, the 85 MLB All-Star Game, the 92 NCAA Tournamnet, Super Bowl XXVI and the 94 NBA All-Star Game.
The first stadium to attract 3,000,000 fans in the American League (Not the Yankees!)
And this picture above is my favorite memory of the ’Dome.
My name is Finlay, and I love to fight!
yeah, no kidding.
now all the talk will be of how “clutch” A-Rod is in October and how he’s a “True Yankee” now. Gross.

Yeah well...
Clutch is such a bullshit sports term anyway.

Saving him
in case the game gets tied. It’s actually a common strategy.
right.
because most common strategy’s have absolutely nothing to do with true leverage.

and here=Twin Cities.
"Baseball doesn't owe me a thing. I owe my whole life to baseball." -Kirby Puckett
wouldn't be a whole lot
warmer at Target field
ugh, we avoided this snail-paced ball throwing for 8 innings
now it’s more like watching a twins/yankees game
Now here's a question:
Would Minnesota fans warm up to the idea of having Matsui as their Left fielder?
You do NOT want him in the field
he just can’t run anymore. Great DH and not much more.
Since am1500's website can't allow coverage of the Twins game (MLB restrictions, you have to pay to hear Twins games on http://www.twinsbaseball.com)
Where can I hear the postgame show? Is am1500 a 50,000 watt station?
My name is Finlay, and I love to fight!
I cannot hate a team more.
I cannot hate an announcer more, and that INCLUDES Hawk. At least he works for the team he pulls for.
