Off Day Poll: How far can they go?
It's playoff time once again. Amazingly, if you count one-game playoffs (and you should, I think), this is the sixth time in eight years that the Twins are participating in playoff baseball.
Today's poll question: how far do you think they'll go, this time?

Hottest team in baseball
There is no reason they can’t go all the way.
They would probably be the weakest team in the playoffs but that doesn’t really matter if things bounce right.
this!
think back to 87…not the best record, didn’t matter. :)

If the Twins win Tuesday
They’ll play the toughest team first, in a short series, then their opponents will get progressively weaker. Home field advantage in the World Series can’t hurt either. It’s still a long shot, but not as long as just forcing a game 163 was a week ago. 12 wins away, baby!!!
my floor is looking pretty dirty... BETTER GET OUT THE BROOM!!!
i think the twins will beat the yankees
Yankees have the 2 biggest chokers when it comes to the playoffs, CC Sabathia(fat ass) and Alex Rodriguez, Burnett has never pitched in the playoffs as well, so i think we beat them 3 games to 1, then we will probably have to face the red soxs, the team i hate the most, man i would love to see us beat them and advance to the world series!
Vikings 4 the superbowl
I hope the Angels beat the Sox
and we could face them at the Dome. I wouldn’t mind losing to them as much as I’d mind losing to the Sox.

all i know is if i see the Sox win the world series ill throw up
Vikings 4 the superbowl
I really don't think you'll have to worry about that.
at least…I hope not.

ill be ok if the angels win it since i dont hate them
also hate the phillies for beating my rays last year so dont want them to win it also.
im a twins, rays, marlins and reds fan
Vikings 4 the superbowl
The Angels are the best of three evils
But I have to say honestly, if the Twins don’t win the pennant, I hope it’s the Tigers. So… if they win Tuesday, they’d better win it all!
my floor is looking pretty dirty... BETTER GET OUT THE BROOM!!!
I really don't think they'd beat the Yankees.
the only reason the Twins might have a chance is because they’re playing hot baseball right now. Tigers blew a 7.5 game lead for the division; I think it’s fair to say that they’re slumping big time.

I voted all the way...
These polls where we have to stop in the middle of a great Twins run and be rational are too sobering.
haha anyone listen to PA's morning show today?
Vikings 4 the superbowl
too sobering?
well, apparently if you voted all the way, you chased that sober feeling away before you posted/voted by downing a fifth, or so.

Exactly...
Of course we’re not “favored” to win the WS, but who wants to think about that right now.
We are going to beat the Tigers like Cabrera beats his wife.

I hope not
Cabrera looks like he got beat up pretty bad too.
my floor is looking pretty dirty... BETTER GET OUT THE BROOM!!!
then we might loss then haha
Vikings 4 the superbowl
too soon?
I dunno, but I laughed.

Voted we lose to the Yankees
Considering we haven’t beat them yet this year it seems likeliest. I can’t stop being realistic now or I’ll jinx it.
I woulda said “Maybe get to a one game playoff and lose it if they are lucky” .. Now, why not figure they can win the whole thing?
They aren’t supposed to be here at this point, if they win tomorrow then everyone and their dog will say they aren’t going to beat the Yankees.. I don’t see why they couldn’t especially if they beat Detroit in a one game playoff.
Crow tastes great!
I have been wrong about this team up to this point and predicted that we would lose to the Yankees, so that prediction in and of itself should give people hope (although I must concede that means I think they’ll beat Detroit). I don’t want to be the party-pooping realist, but we haven’t beaten the Yankees in seven tries this year, our pitching rotation is going to be out of whack with Baker starting Tuesday, and the teams we have been beating up on during this 20 game run where we went 16-4 were the Oakland A’s (last game of the series), Royals, White Sox, Indians, and Tigers. The Yankees are light years better than any of those teams, and now with Morneau and Crede are out, I really don’t like our chances. At this point, I’d be happy with beating Detroit on Tuesday and winning one game against the Yankees. If we pull a miracle and win two games against the Yankees, I’ll be giddy. If we win three, I’ll be delirious.
Wow
Right now, 94% of people think the Twins will win tomorrow night. Gonna be a real letdown if the home team goes down..
It'd almost be worse if we lost tomorrow
Than if we had gotten swept this weekend. At least in terms of the disappointment I would be feeling.
I vote we lose Tuesday.
Only because I have held 14 funerals for our season already, and I want to be consistent. But I am behind our boys a hundred percent. WIN TWINS! BEAT THEM TIGGERS!
I always loved that one.

I'm very disturbed
by the growing number of people who think we’re going to lose tomorrow.
Not cool.

But did you read my disclaimer!?
I know its a blog and all that, but at this point I don’t want to jinx anything.

yes...I did.
but you are one of 20 (at this point). :\

See, I have a totally different view of this
I am an eternal pessimist about life in general and the Twins in particular. I don’t see a problem with that—I find it quite satisfying. I assume the worst, and am frequently pleasantly surprised, and when I’m not, I simply have my predilections confirmed.
I enjoy reveling in expected disappointment, in assuming the worst is going to happen. I think it’s fun. I don’t see why I should pretend an optimism I don’t feel.

Hey that garbage troll guy didn't show up in this threat yet

He's probably squatting in a damp cave,
Catfish clenched between his teeth, typing a “Morneau has My Precious, and We Wants It Back!” fanpost.
Oh wait! The Tigers guy? I have no idea. Sorry.

Interesting that every choice includes losing except the last one
Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning?
That's the nature of postseason play.

Yeah...it goes from...
…it’s only April to…there’s a lot of baseball left to be played to…a lot can change from now until the end of the year to…it comes down to one game.

I'm an A's fan
I said go all the way, just because I won’t be able to stand watching the postseason without the Twins in it. Go Twins!

How far CAN
How far CAN they go vs WILL they go? Clearly they COULD go all the way to the ring, crazier things have happened recently and to this team. If they get by the Yankees, which we all know is a huge if, they can do anything…
"You can't sit on a lead and run a few plays into the line and just kill the clock. You've got to throw the ball over the damn plate and give the other man his chance. That's why baseball is the greatest game of them all."

There is hope!
Of course they can go all the way. The ‘87 Twins were scoundrels and sadsacks that were gonna get their butts beat red by the mighty Tigers. A fluke if the Twins take even one game was being bantied about by the almighty nattering nabobs, but the Twinkies waltzed in and did it. They stole bases at every cold-weather sniffle. They hit and run as if there were no tomorrow—practically everytime someone was on base. They played defense like the Purple People Eaters of yore. They handed Doyle of Alexander—the one who couldn’t lose—his head on a platter! And it took all of that and then some to beat Detroit. The formula hasn’t changed even though the players have.
Now Gardy, I’ve been exceedingly kind to you this year—no full length diatribes with long-winded comments about when the next train was leaving and very few LNP jokes because I think that you were dealt a pair of deuces and you bluffed them all. Kudos to you, but now is not the time to think you have a straight flush; you’re still one card short, so don’t worry about this weekend’s games. There is only tomorrow, so if you have to put the Minnesota barking dogs in to play the outfield for the 9th inning because you’ve used every player that you have, so be it. If you have an ace up your sleeve—even if it was from a poker game three months ago—peel if off your flesh and play that card!
We’re gonna need to throw the kitchen sink at them and even the hot water heater that’s attached to it. Let’s make those Tigers think they are seeing double or even triple!
Now, let’s make some history!
