Carlos Gomez is a Super 2
It's at the bottom of the article and I do remember some chatter about Gomez possibly being a super 2 earlier in the season. This skews the Hardy-Gomez trade a bit more now that Gomez is only under one more year of control than Hardy.

Gomez is still under control for 2 more years than hardy
This basically means that he gets an extra year of arbitration. This can add up over the course of 4 years, adding 4-8 million dollars. If he doesn’t improve considerably, he might not even be worth his contract in the 4th year.

As far as the trade goes
Most places I’ve read saw this as about dead even on surplus value (production-salary). I gave us the edge because we were getting the production in 2 years, instead of spreading it out over 4. With the Super 2 status, it really isn’t close. Gomez looks to make about 20 mil over the course of the next 4 years, and projects to be worth maybe 30 mil in terms of production.
Hardy will cost closer to 15 mil, and also projects to be worth about 30, only over the course of 2 years.
Obviously, if Gomez takes a big step forward, or Hardy doesn’t bounce back at all, that changes things. But based purely on projected salary and projected production, its a clear win for the Twins.
