YES! Clearly there were five people who weren't watching the same baseball season as everyone else, but look at that point differential between first and second place. And nobody voted Joe lower than third place, so kudos to all voting parties for that.
Having to vote for ten candidates means this is a pretty large chart with a lot of stragglers, and after Mauer I can't honestly remember who I voted for. I know I voted for one of Cuddyer and Kubel, although I can't promise full homerism by saying I voted for both. Still, I'm positive that Longoria, Cabrera, Zobrist, Jeter and Youkilis were in there somewhere.
The only two AL teams not represented on this list? Oakland and Chicago.

Baby Jesus wins!
I wonder if the guy who voted Mauer as 3rd was the same guy who voted Jeter as 1st. Also good to see that Ben Zobrist finished 2nd, though I doubt he will in the actual MVP voting.

As long as Mauer wins the MVP, I won't mind who finished 2nd!

Research project
If you find out who it was that voted Mauer third, let me know.
By the way, does anyone know whether it’s legal to send poop through the mail?

You should try.

Probably not
The guy who voted Mauer 3rd was likely thinking along these lines: http://www.drivelinemechanics.com/2009/10/15/1086115/2009-al-mvp-showdown-greinke-vs
That would be 1. Grienke 2. Zobrist 3. Mauer and I don’t think it is so absurd really. Mauer is still my number one but I won’t jump on anyone who puts all three of them in the top, regardless the order.

That would make sense.
As long as there’s a well thought out reasoning behind the vote, I wouldn’t care. Although if there really is someone who didn’t include Mauer in their top 10, I don’t think there is any way to justify that…

Morneau
For 2/3 of the season, Morneau was the second best offensive player in the AL – putting up a higher OPS+ than Youk, Tex or ARod. His rate stats plummeted b/c he played with a broken back for a month. And somehow he doesn’t finish in the top 40 but Ellsbury (and every member of the Yankees) does?

That's how it works.
I didn’t vote for him either. He was injured and missed games, he was injured and he played…not really qualifications for garnering votes.
Not that it explains votes for guys like Choo, Ellsbury or Gonzalez…

I can now confirm I did not vote Kubel!
One of the guys from Halos Heaven did. Cuddyer, then, was my vote.

This poll is so rigged.
What are you guys, Communists? WHERE DO I GET TO VOTE FOR DEREK JETER?!?!!?

This really is amazing.
The only magic number now is #34

Wait a minute
Aren’t there 29 voters? That would mean someone didn’t vote for Mauer at all.

Each AL blog gets two votes for a total of 28.

I'm getting 29 counting up the columns
29 votes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, haven’t counted beyond that.

Yep
There were 29 votes in every one of the polls. My assumption was that all 30 blogs got a vote, and someone didn’t turn in their ballot.
If that’s not the case, who gets TwinkieTown’s other vote?

I think someone at SSS didn't vote?
I’m not sure, but I thought he said he didn’t vote this year.
I would also like to know who represented the Twins, too. :)

Wait a minute...
Five people voted for someone besides Mauer as No. 1… but only four people voted for Mauer 2-10. One voter left Mauer off completely?
Or is my math off?

Holy crap
I checked it, and you’re right. Baffling.
I really wish the ballots were public – I’d love to see some of the voters’ justifications.
By the way, Jesse, I went to a couple other SBNation blogs to see if they would claim to be the ones who didn’t vote for Mauer (unfortunately, Pinstripe Alley doesn’t have a post up yet; they’re my prime suspects), and the Royals Review guy says that you’re a moron for voting for Cuddyer.

How?
How is this acceptable? In the last five years the Twins have had Cy Young winners, the save-leader in baseball, one MVP and now maybe another. There is at least one Gold Glove winner each year. There is a batting title winner for the past three years.
And yet the Twins can’t even make it to the ALCS. Ridiculous. All of these individual awards are nice, but I would trade all of them and more for one championship.

Or, sum it up this way:
The cost of the 25 postseason Twins was less than that of three Yankee players.

For the record
In the poll on our page, I voted for Mauer. I am not ashamed to admit it either.
I always loved that one.
