couple of things
Bonser is out of options, he will be on a major league roster somewhere in 2010.
I doubt Sheets is that expensive.
What happened to Perkins? Traded?
I do hope that there’s at least one more aquisition on the ML roster than what you’ve added there. Don’t get me wrong, I like Sheets, but this team is probably a 92-93 win team. I would hope that 2nd is manned by Uggla or Phillips. I don’t think a flyer on Crede or Glaus for a 1 year deal could hurt either.

I hope you're RIGHT ON about Ben Sheets !
And I do think he will be CHEAPER yes less expensive than Carl Pavano
However, that does not mean he comes at a premium, because he has injury/durability issues like C.P. as well
and hasn’t pitched a game Like Pavano did in game 3 in the Loss to N.Y.Y. that was a big time performance
I honestly can’t say who’d I prefer …
And Yes I have the Twins dumping Glen Perkins and Alexi Casilla in a small trade with like … San Diego or Milwaukee or Cincinnati for a A+ outfielder to take the place of Ozzie Lewis and maybe a decent pitcher like Zach Stewart or Travis Wood.
Deolis Guerra = Daniel Cabrera ?
I tend to think so

I really don't think they are done trading
As you can see from your own list, there are still issues. Boof has to be on a major league roster, so he’s either in the bigs or being traded. I’m guessing the competition is opened up for the 5 spot between Boof, Duensing, and Liriano. I’m also guessing Duensing (simply because he has options) will likely be the odd guy out, even though he did very well last season (granted it’s a small sample size). I personally think he may be a good sell high candidate, though he’s a lefty with a low 90s fast ball, so he’s also a guy I wouldn’t mind holding on to.
I’m guessing Perkins is gone. Casilla wouldn’t be a bad one to get rid of too as there are too many guys like him clogging up second (of which only Tolleson/Hughes in my opinion has a realistic shot of a decent future)… Just not sure for what. The pen is crowded with potential guys and there’s not much in it that could be converted to a decent starter, so I do see the Twins going after Pavano or even Sheets (possibly both for the right price). Sheets should be able to be had for a 1 year deal with a possible option. I doubt he gets 5M base unless there are no incentives. Given his history, I’m guessing if he wants incentives, he will go with a lower base with a potential of maxing out in the 8-10M range. I’m not sure if he’d be up for an option, and I highly doubt 2 of them.
Getting back to trading, this team is still not that much improved over last year. Hardy is an upgrade, and if he bounces back he’s a huge upgrade, but I’d like to see some additional position player upgrades. Crede/Glaus at 3rd could be had for a 1 year deal, and relatively cheap. I’m guessing Joe gets resigned for a 1.5M base with similar incentives to last season. At 2nd, I’m guessing a trade will be made for either Uggla or Phillips. Both are in salary dump situations. If the Twins packaged Perkins and another major leaguer (Punto or Crain seems logical, though I have no idea what FLA/CIN needs) along with a nice prospect such as Revere, I’m guessing the salary would work out in a way to fill both team’s needs.
I know this, if all we do is get one more starter, I don’t think we’ve upgraded enough. Mauer has made it clear he wants a shot at a ring if hes’ going to stay. One more SP won’t do that for us. It certainly will win us the central, but not really put fear into our opponents either.

Rostering......
It’s still too early to look at the minors. Chances are Macri, Butera, Pridie won’t be back, and some others on the bubble (Peterson, Winfree) will go elsewhere.
Where are Perkins, Casilla, for example.
Hopefully the Twins make one more trade so they don’t start the year with Valencia and Punto batting.
And Neshek gets to start the season in the minors, just because he can.

pridie
yea im guessing pridie will be a twin at the start of the season because we need someone who can play center behind span..one reason i wish we would have traded young over gomez

Young has no trade value
We could have traded Young. Just not for Hardy. It’s probably worth giving him another year to see if he can rebuild his value. I am a little nervous about not having a better plan B than Pridie.

Pridie projects to be a pretty awful hitter (Mike Redmond Territory)
But an above average defensive outfielder. All in all, pretty close to replacement level… about what you’d expect from your 5th outfielder. Span has been durable, and he’s not really much of a downgrade to Delmon.

Lewis' spot
Is it too early for Hicks?

Gibson
I can’t imagine that he would start in Beloit. I would almost assume he’d start in Ft. Myers.
Dustin Martin won’t be in the big leagues to start the season. Definitely Pridie or a veteran.
Winfree can’t be a Rule 5 pick unless he signs with someone before then. If Winfree is gone, I’d look for Tosoni in RF and Brian Dinkelman in LF in Rochester.
Juan Morillo is also out of options.
Gutierrez likely would get another shot as a starter. Hirschfeld would likely start season in bullpen again before moring into the rotation. Burnett will close at New Britain to start.
I’d guess that Joe Benson starts back at Ft. Myers with Juan Portes getting starts in NB. Benson (and Hicks!) would move up in the middle of the season.
Dakota Watts and Tony Davis definitely both start in the Beloit bullpen, not Ft. Myers. Blevins definitely moves up to Ft. Myers… and Michael Allen should stay in the bullpen. Stuifbergen will also only move up one level, to Beloit.
Chris Herrman will likely catch a bunch in Beloit… My guess is Rams will play more 1B or DH.
No way Josmil Pinto goes back to E-Town. No way Blayne Weller doesn’t start the season at E-Town, if not Beloit later.
Arcia and Lin will certainly be up in E-Town. Kelvin Mota was released.
I could come up with more, but I don’t want to take up too much space.

wow lots said there Seth
good work
OK
well, I would be surprised if the Twins started Arcia (18) in Elizabethon, but I bet you’re right
I originally had him there but bumped him down to GCL….f
as for Dustin Martin and David Winfree I really do both hope they are in Rochester’s opening day outfield
(I just went with an in house option for MLB 5th outfield….)
If I had to guess, I’d say the Twins will bring in a veteran to man the 5th outfielder spot.

Seth...
…when you talked to Gibson, did he give you more insight about how he did than what was covered in your podcast?
In general however, it is way to early to talk about who will be where in the minors next spring. Do the Twins go out and get a veteran outfielder to battle for the #5 job, with either he or Pridie back at Rochester? If so, everyone moves back a spot. Do they sign 2-3-4 AAAA type minor league pitchers for depth? They always have in the past, yet, with 8 starters already in the organizaiton with major league experience…this year may be different. We should all know a lot more in another two months.
