Boo to
keeping the pixie vests around
to officially killing the blue alternate road jersey (I might have missed a previous killing on that one)
I’m going to hold off on the new road and and 3rd home alternate until I see actual pictures of them…
I absolutely despise the vests, too...but in general
I think the new ones are okay. Still, I was hoping for something a little different. These are classic Twins uniforms…classy, pure baseball, nothing too showy.
I still wanted the baby blue’s.
+1 on the baby blues
it would be nice to see those come back…
+1 on you calling them pure baseball…I especially think the new road greys look like throw back jerseys, I’m not sure on the script though…I see that and I think of Gopher baseball, not the Twins…
The change in the home lettering is very slight and I think I saw people already wearing jerseys with that lettering when I visited the Dome in September?
Overall, nothing to write home about but also nothing to really complain about… which feels very much like the Twins
He goes by "Player" now, dig?
’S cool…

Hats?
The new road jersey doesn’t make sense with the M hats.
I see a TC for the road
M’s only for the solid blue home-alternate.
The script “Minnesota” on the road jersey’s looks different. I checked the “dressed to the nines” database and couldn’t find a precedent for it. Have they ever worn script “Minnesota” before?
It's very different
They also scrapped the pinstripes on the road jersey (not sure whether I like that or not, although I think they were the only team that wore pinstripes on their road grays). I’m also not aware of a script Minnesota previously, although I don’t know my pre-’87 Twins unis all that well.
Also, agreement with everyone above that the vests are horrible.
For some reason, the blue jerseys seemed really weird with the pinstripe pants, although I’m pretty sure they’ve always done it that way.

I believe so
Seems there was a time when Minnesota was in script similar to the old style “Twins” and then “Twins” was in the “tail” which underlined Minnesota.
Why don't the road jerseys make sense with the M hats?
my floor is looking pretty dirty... BETTER GET OUT THE BROOM!!!

Mismatched fonts
You’d have a capital M on the jersey that didn’t match the M on the hat. I know that’s been the case with the block letters. A “script” M might look good on the hat.
Yeah, I thought they would keep the M hats for the road
The TC hats are in block type. Oh well. At least they got the jerseys right.

I like the regular home jerseys
and the third alternate home, don’t like the blue tops or vested home alternates 1 and 2.

When do they wear what?
Three alternates sounds like a lot. They mentioned the retro ones were for saturdays. What about the vest and the blues? Sundays?
GAH!
What happened to the pin stripes on the road jerseys? No more red caps though, just a red bill.

I like the new type face
I never liked the block type across the chest. At least now they’re consistent. I also like the color.

Not bad overall
They aren’t exciting, but I think they’re solid.
Montana should like the alternate-3 jersey, which is
modeled after the wool version worn during the Twins’ first season in Minnesota.

I was hoping for a comeback of the Saturday jerseys from last year.
Those were nice. Oh well, the new ones are interesting.
Still not a fan of the vests. Those need to go.
I'd assume the new ones will just be for one year, too
Last year’s Saturday jerseys were based on the ‘82 home jerseys in honor of the last year in the Metrodome. This year’s are in honor of the team’s first season. I’ll guess that if there’s a throwback alternate next year, they’ll pick something else – likely the powder blues, because that’s about all they have left, and a powder blue #7 would probably be a bonanza for jersey sales. Throwback alternates are usually for home games, though, so maybe they’d do like the Royals did a couple years ago, bringing back the powder blue but wearing it with white pants for home games.

Am I the only one that's not a fan of the powder blues?
And yeah, I realize the ’82 ones were in honor of the Dome…but I still liked them. :)
I didn't know anyone actually liked the powder blues unironically
Its sort of screams 1970s. There’s ironic kitschy fun in them of course but in all seriousness, I wouldn’t mind never seeing them again.
+1
They also bring back memories of chronic mediocrity.

On second thought, the main objection might not be the color

Those were polyester with pullover V-necks with tri-color bands on the waist/sleeve and a mailman stripe down the leg.
If some fashion wizard finds a classier way to incorporate a light blue into a road uniform, I wouldn’t necessarily object. I like the 2010 road uni’s, but we don’t necessarily have to stick with drab-grey for road uniforms in perpetuity.
Flannels might be a good idea
At least in April and October!
Getting nitpicky here
I don’t like the Blue T on the blue hat. It makes them look like a Reds farm club. The road TC hat is much better and I wish they still had the red home TC hat.
I noticed the hightop spikes and no stirrups in the pictures, that’s interesting. They should be required to have high pants and stirrups for the Alt-home 3s.
Replacing the Alternate Home 2 with a “Japanese” style uniform would be interesting. Color one sleeve of the home whites blue and put a Target symbol on the back. I guarantee they’d only be worn once!
Blue T on the blue hat?

Basically
we just got new road uniforms. They are ok, it will take some getting used to, kind of reminds me or Cleveland’s road unis. I don’t know why they just didn’t scrap the M hats all around. The vests need to go, none wears those anymore. I still think the blue jersey would be great if it featured just the TC logo and the number insteard or the Twins script.
JT
We also got new retro Saturday home unis, which look really cool

compared to...
It’s not a copy but when I saw them, the Nats jersey was one of the first things I thought of…
Pretty standard retro formula...
Indians, Senators (‘W’ from the Frank-Howard-Era caps), Dodgers, Orioles, early-90s brewers, early 90s Mets. Almost every teams goes script-city-name at some point.

road jersey's
if the twins have a poor road record this season, i blame the jerseys.

Three things about that...
1) Scott Baker is adorable.
AND
2) I miss Dick Bremer!!!! (And Bert, but don’t tell him)
3) The road unis look nicer on a player than I thought.
Weird
is the fascination here due to offseason boredom? I can’t figure out why anyone (at least anyone of the male gender) gives a rat’s patooey about what their jerseys look like.
As long as they aren’t naked, I couldn’t care less.

me either.
I’m sure some pop-psychologists out there would find this exchange fascinating.

seriously?
I guess so. If I were female I’m not sure I’d want to see the naked bodies of Jose Mijares, John Rauch, Jason Kubel…
Kind of like imagining the women in A League of Their Own to play ball naked. I’d rather Madonna leave her clothes on than have to look at Rosie O’Donnel for two hours…

Haha, no, not seriously.
There are far more players I’d prefer keep their clothes on than not. :\ Mike Redmond sans clothing? I think I went blind just thinking about it.
Not just players
Gardy and Stelly wear those uniforms too
As long as they aren’t naked
Actually, that was Mike Redmond’s uniform suggestion

Uni Watch's opinion
Paul Lukas (writer of the Uni Watch columns on ESPN.com Page 2) weighs in on his blog.
He loves the throwbacks (he’s a big retro/traditionalist guy, so that’s not surprising at all), likes the new road unis, other than the two-tone hat, still doesn’t like the blue alternates, and hates the vests (like any sane person, although I don’t know that I remember the last time I saw the Twins wear them, hopefully that’s largely moot). He has never been a fan of the “Twins” logo on the home jerseys (thinks it looks very 80s) or the “M” caps, and he maintains his existing opposition to those as well.
One thing he pointed out about the new home jerseys that I didn’t notice – they’re switching from nameplates to direct-sewn lettering for the names on the back, so they’ll no longer have the big pinstripe-free white patch around last names. He also has a link to a side-by-side comparison of the old and new home logos – basically, they made the serifs on the letters pointy instead of boxy.
