Around SBN: Jeff Sullivan's MLB Trade Deadline Primer

Len 3 notes at the end of today's story:

"The Twins acquired righthanded (sic.) pitcher Chris Province as the player to be named later in Thursday's trade that sent righthander Boof Bonser to the Boston Red Sox."

Here are the
stats on the 24-year-old right-handed sinker baller. Except for 2008, very impressive FIP and GB stats.

Good scouting report & picture on SoxProspects

Scouting Report: Province’s fastball sits between 87-91 mph and has a good sinking motion. He also possesses a 76-77 mph slurve with good movement, but he needs to locate it more consistently. Good control, but struggles with command within the zone, particularly when he reaches back. Not afraid to pitch to contact, leading to mixed results. Good poise on the mound. Above average fielder. Ultimately, Province’s MLB potential likely rests on his ability to hone his command and to bring his slider to the next level.

He did okay in the AFL, looks like he slides in as a relief prospect below Burnett, Slama and Delaney.

Although Associated Press style is...

…to hyphenate right-handed, most every newspaper that uses AP style has exceptions. The Tribune has demonstrated that it uses righthanded, as do other newspapers.

Sic, by the way, carries no period after it. Except here: sic.

Glad to see there is nothing else wrong with what I've written lately.

Thanks for keeping me honest.
