Atkins to Baltimore
According to Mlbtraderumors Garrett Atkins has signed with the orioles.
This is great news just because it means the Twins wont sign him.
Also this gives a better opportunity to sign someone like Adrian Beltre or Mark DeRosa at 3rd
It seems Boston is going after Adrian Gonzalez and moving the Kevin Youkilis to 3rd.
How many other teams need a 3rd basemen? It seems the Twins might get an above average 3rd basemen for cheaper than the market valued.

Giants
San Francisco is also looking for a third sacker. They were talking with Padres about Kouz and also expressed interest in DeRosa.
Baltimore seemed to be the Twins competition for Crede.
So, looks like the Twins may just hold out for Crede! But, depends on what the Giants do.

Mariners and St Louis
Since Derosa is a FA St Louis will need to resign him or get a new one.
Doofenschmirtz Evil, INC.
Phineas and Ferb

San Fran going after DeRosa.
Mariners – ?
St. Louis – Troy Glaus, ?

ah yes
I forgot about the Mariners signing Figgins.
Change it to the LA Angels then…unless they are willing to put Brandon Wood at 3B for next year. I have a feeling that the Angels will not reach the playoffs next year and that it will be the Ms on top of the west.

I wouldn't mind Glaus
I like it. More players than teams. I’m hopign that means getting Kouz, Crede, or Glaus very cheap.

Price is coming down on infielders
Dave Cameron at Fangraphs wrote about the glut of 2B. Carroll signed for $2M/season. DeRosa’s asking price is down to 3 years $18M and nobody is biting yet. The Red Sox might stick Kotchman at 1B and Youkilis at 3B, leaving Beltre on the market.
Yeah Boston is going to play a big role
If they don’t sign Beltre, that brings everyone’s price down.

is where I get all my stats. Crede’s page here.
Crede was worth 1.7 WAR last year, at -6.6 batting and +12.5 fielding runs.

Park-adjusted?
Does WAR attempt to adjust for home park? Kouz and Beltre played in pitcher’s parks, while Crede was in one hitter’s parks and one neutral park.
I’m impressed with how close Kouzmanoff’s results are to Beltre’s.

Kouz v Crede
Kouz = Crede + the ability to stay on the field

Wow, Seattle looks good
After dealing for Cliff Lee and signing Chone Figgins, they’ve managed to deal the useless Carlos Silva for Milton Bradley. This actually saves them $$ for the next 2 seasons.
Since the end of 2008
when Seattle got their new GM, they’ve made a number of really good moves…
- Trading Putz, getting Gutierrez in return
- Signing Endy Chavez to give them a great bunch of “range” outfielders
- Getting rid of Yuniesky Betancourt, ultimately getting Jack Wilson (not great, but definitely an upgrade)
- Giving the keys to 1B to Branyan
- David Aardsma as closer
- Getting value for Jarrod Washburn at the trading deadline
- Trading for Cliff Lee, without giving up anyone on their roster
Now, getting rid of an unproductive albatross for a more productive (when healthy) albatross is another good move. Watch out for the Mariners…

I would add Figgins

Yes, add Figgins
who is perfect for that field. I don’t think Bill Hall was a very good move, quite expensive for a backup option.

I have to think the Mariners are the AL West favorites now
