Twinkie Town Top 50...Voting for prospect Number 27!

Something unusual happened this round, we didn't have a run-off.  Luke Hughes collected 28 of 90 votes (28%) cast and is our 26th Top prospect.  Congratulations Luke!

All of the other candidates in this past round collected over 6% and will remain on the ballot for the Twenty-seventh prospect.  Added to the list, will be the 2009 Eastern League All-Star second baseman, Brian Dinkelman.  Brian had another tremendous season, finishing at .296/.383/.440 in 459 at bats.  I know some question Brian's range, however, he had only 7 errors in 129 games.  By comparison, Alexi Casilla had 6 errors in 40 games for Rochester.

Please keep giving me names of players you believe should be included in the next five to ten rounds.  Also, with tomorrow being New Years Day, this round of voting will continue until SATURDAY, January 2, 2010 at 3pm.

Star-divide

The Twinkie Town Top 26 is:  1) Miguel Jean; 2) Aaron Hicks; 3) Wilson Ramos; 4) Kyle Gibson; 5) Ben Revere; 6) Danny Valencia; 7) Angel Morales; 8) David Bromberg; 9) Rene Tosoni; 10) Deolis Guerra; 11) Chris Parmelee; 12) Anthony Slama; 13) Max Kepler-Rozycki; 14-tie) Carlos Gutierrez and Adrian Salcedo; 16) Joe Benson; 17) Alex Burnett; 18) Jeff Manship; 19) B. De Los Santos

Partly based on name, but if the Twins though him worthy of the 40 man…my question—was he a guy like Marquez, who could’ve been lost in the minor league portion of the draft? I just don’t understand the whole rule V deal. I just don’t see how you have to protect a guy like Estarlin (or Romero) who hasn’t even sniffed AA. Nobody can stash a guy like that, and why would you want to stunt their growth? What a huge disservice to them if some team did take them and stash them and limit them to pinch running and mop up duty.

How about Ramon Santana or Michael Gonzales?

Ramon had a good year

right now I would have to put Tolleson as a shotstop ahead of him. I’d guess about #35. One more good year and he should be in the top 25. Gonzales has good power, him and Rams to me are close togther. Power hitters are sometimes hard to gauge at low levels. Rams top 30, Gonzales top 40. It gets hard to rule out some of the older guys like Dinkelman, Singleton,Fox,Lugo,Macri,Martin,Lis. They have made it all the way to AAA, but because the Twins have not placed any of them on the 40 man roster their chance of making the Big Show are decreasing.

Next round

Lobanov 19,Hendricks 20,Weller 19, as pitchers Pinto 20,Williams 21,Guillen 17 for fielders and at some point Herrmann 22,Arcia 18 as outfielders. The Numbers are their ages as of to day (I think these are right)

Bashore

strictly on the basis of being a high draft choice.

Hunt, Weller and Ciurcina, and Polanco, Singleton and Guillen.

Shooter Hunt

I want to see if anyone votes for him.

His name is perfect for baseball.

Bashore... Rams

I would consider him in this range if not for the arm/shoulder/elbow problems. If he ends up having TJ, he’s out for 2010, and his status drops significantly.

So I voted for Rams again.

Blayne Weller should be here… I’ve got him at least 10 spots ahead of here. Arcia woudl b e good in this range as well.

I like some of the AAA guys, but

after looking at some ages I can’t place Dinkelman-27,Tolleson-27,Fox-28,Lis-26,Robbins-26,Lugo-26.VanMil-26,(next years ages) ahead of the younger players. Hirschfield will be 25 at AA (to old) same with Steedley and Testa. M. Williams wil be 23 next year and S. Arias both could be at AA. and could be a surprise. Hendriks at 21 at Beloit looks good to.
