While Bill Smith Sits on his Fucking Ass and does nothing
UGH..Typical brain thought by the Twins GM..Lets win with less than subpar Talents…Hey Bill..Take a note from the yankees..Talent bring you championships.
Not sure but I think the Twins already made one pretty significant move this off season
I wouldn’t get too upset quite yet, we haven’t even made it to the winter meetings yet and we already got JJ Hardy as well. The Twins will likely make more moves but I don’t think Chone was in their plans either way. Too expensive for the Twins to sign him and keep their own talent. The only guy who’s already signed that I think the Twins should have been after was Polanco. There’s still lots of talent out there where the Twins need it. Now if Hudson, Lopez, and Beltre get signed without the Twins getting after one of them I might start to get a bit upset.
Peyton's good but have you ever heard of Jeff George?
Um no
money brings you championships…when you have a $205 million salary, you are kind of expected to win a World Series. And this is the Yankees first WS in a decade? You have screwed yourself sir…

ya sure Bill Smith – go get Chone Figgins. Figgins is so much better than Mauer! Lets not extend Mauer and spend $40 million on Figgins! Brilliant!!!!

4 years $36M
with a 5th year vesting option Is more than I was expecting Figgins to get. Seattle may have overpaid a bit, but they probably had to in order to pry Figgins away. Adrian Beltre is now in a nice position, the Angels may become desperate.
Very good move by Seattle. 4/36 and a potential for $45 is more than I’d have been willing to pay Chone Figgins.
Huh......
Very good move by Seattle, but they overpaid?
Five year bargain?

If you have the budget
it’s possible to overpay and be a good move for the ballclub. I was mixing up the statements from a Twins versus Seattle perspective. Given our existing payroll obligations and expected increases over the next few years, I wouldn’t want to commit $36-45M to Figgins. However, Seattle has less payroll committed in the near term (around $60-70M by my count) and a little more flexibility (i.e., no Mauer megacontract on the horizon).
