Around SBN: Knicks Beat Lakers With Familiar Strategy

Kelsey Smith of the Pioneer Press thinks so. My top target: Jed Lowrie. Now that the Red Sox have signed Marco Scutaro, Lowrie figures to go on the block. He'd look good at and batting second for the Twins in 2010.

Lowrie

I like his attitude at the plate, just wish he wouldn’t strike out quite so much. He was always good for a walk but it also wasn’t hard to get him to expand his strike zone. Had decent power in the minors. But yeah, he’ll be 26 next season…so if the Twins don’t choose to go after a higher-profile trade or free agent, this could be a fun way to go.

Yeah, let's get a team full of guys entering their prime

Didn’t Lowrie, Hardy and Mauer play together on the Junior National team?

lowrie

i wouldnt mind seeing lowrie at second. Having morneau, lowrie, hardy, and then probably punto in the infield will be one of the best defensive infields in the game

Lowrie

I’d be happy if we pulled off a trade for Lowrie this week, good buy low candidate. The question is how much it would cost us. Pencil Lowrie in for 2B-3B depth, then we have flexibility in the infield.

I've been wondering about that

I like the idea a lot. He’s young, will be around and cheap for a while, and plays at our week spot.

Do you think we could get Lowrie for Revere, or for a pitcher (Perkins, Manship, etc) and Casilla? Maybe Casilla and Slama/Delaney?

Those would all seem worth it to me. I can easily see the Red Sox holding on the Lowrie, in case of injuries, or to give him another year at AAA. He’s good, and ready, but there’s no desparation for the Sox in getting rid of him.

Lowrie for Revere

would be the dumbest trade of the offseason

Revere would be too much

I’d trade Perkins and a fringe player for him. Hey, I know, what about Punto? The Sox need a gritty utility guy and they might be one of the few clubs that can afford a $4 million utility guy.

OK, they’d have to give Gardy nitro if they ever traded Punto. But, as long as we’re dreaming…

I'd rather send Perkins and Tolbert

Punto at least has enough defense to be a good utility guy. One of the better Utility guys in the league, actually. Also one of the most expensive.
