Reds Sign Jacque Jones
As soon as Shannon Stewart finds work, we'll have one more year of the Soul Patrol.
Good luck, Jacque. Here's hoping for a late-career revival.

Jones was one of my favorites
Definitely my favorite of the Soul Patrol. I remember watching the Twins play the White Sox in the Dome from a bar in San Francisco. Santana was pitching for the Twins, and I think the score ended up 1-0, but I remember somewhere in the middle innings, Jones steps up and just turns on an inside pitch and bam, it was over the right field baggie, just like that. He didn’t always do that, but when he did it was awesome.
My favorite Jaque Jones memory though was when I was at the Oakland Coliseum about seven rows behind the Twins dugout. Jones caught the third out and I stood up and yelled “Yeah Jonsie!” as he was heading back in. He looked at me – I was probably the only Twins fan in the section – did a pump fake then threw the ball about three feet over my head. A guy behind me caught it and gave it to his 7 year old kid, but he did pat me on the shoulder during the next inning and say, “I think that guy was throwing it at you.” Well, yeah. He was.

Jacque
was one of the heroes (along with Johan, of course) of what was my favorite game of the ultimately disappointing 2005 season: this game, which I’m sure most people here remember.
I was there
Sitting in Section 113, right by the milk jug. One of the best regular season games I’ve seen.

That was probably the game I watched from that bar in SF. Was Jones’ homerun above the right field baggie? C-Math, you were in a position to know.

Yes
Freddy Garcia and Johan had been locked in a fantastic pitchers’ duel. Garcia hung a slider. Boom. Over the baggie. Jacque had hit maybe three sliders all year, but this one hung above the knees and, as Bert likes to say,“he did not miss it.”

I thought it might have been the 8th inning
but I thought maybe that was just my memory making it seem more awesome than it was. The game only lasted 2:08 so it probably felt like the middle innings.
I watched that game with a good friend who just happens to be a White Sox fan. All he could tell me after that game was, “Whatever, we’re gonna win 100 games.” They may have won the World Series but they came up one game short of 100 that season. Thanks, Jacque.

Game
Definitely a great Metrodome memory. I also remember that game, I wasn’t there but watched it. What a way to spoil Garcia’s gem. I wish Jacque the best in the National League.
My favorite Jacque Jones game...
7/22/02- 5 for 6, 2 2B, 1HR, 2R, 2RBI in an 11-6 win vs. the Pale Hose. I remember sitting in a Green Mill with 2 of my best friends watching Jones tee off in one of my few nights off that summer.
Jacque
He’s batting .352 with 50 homeruns and 146 RBI on my Baseball Advanced GBA game. thats an awesome baseball game
