Blue Jays @ Twins
Scott Baker goes for the Twins today in Fort Myers. No TV, but the game is being broadcast on the Twins Radio Network.
La Velle has the lineups (along with other good stuff.) It's very much an "exploratory" day for the Blue Jays - exactly one guy in their starting lineup is currently on their 40-man roster.

Well, hopefully Baker won't struggle against their minor leaguers
Let’s see if the Twins can be productive on offense against Clement.

Live Box Score - MIN 1, TOR 1, Bot 2
Baker’s given up four hits and a run in two innings so far; Joe Crede had a two-out, first-inning double to drive in the Twins’ run.
Baker
pulled in the 5th with a fairly poor outing overall against a Blue Jays lineup of backups.
9 hits and 3 runs in 73 pitches over 4.1 innings…he did have 5 strikeouts.

Gameday
Had Sean Henn (in a Twins cap) pitching against Howie Clark (in a Twins cap).

Gordo and Morris
are making a strong argument for Hughes to saty up on the 40 man roster as a utility guy.

Hughes
He’s been impressing me. I just don’t think there’s any room for him right now.
At this point, I'd rather have Harris
Punto’s going to be out at some point, and Hughes cannot play SS. Harris would be our primary backup, and he’s got a better bat than Tolbert as a backup SS.
If Plouffe looks like he’s ready and we’re willing to go with Hughes at 3B at some point if Crede goes down, then we shop Harris around. IMO.

harris
what would we do with harris? trade him? does he have options?
Hughes v Harris
Hughes still has more to learn at AAA than Harris. I don’t know who would help the team more, but I doubt it is a big difference right now. After another year of learning, and most importantly, getting to play every day, Hughes has a chance to make a bigger difference.
In the meantime, I think Harris stays on the big league club, and they start shopping him. One of the things that Reusse didn’t consider in his roster article is that Punto can be shifted to 2B, in order to put Harris at SS, if substitutions would require it. Harris has a pretty decent bat for a utility infielder. Between he and Buscher, I think our bench will actually be a strength this year, instead of a weakness. In most games, we will have Buscher, Harris, one of the outfielder (probably young or cuddyer), and the.backup catcher. Either way, we are likely to have two to three decent bats on the bench, wtih enough players who can play multiple defensive positions to allow us to get some good pinch hitting opportunities.
Reusse?
Someone actually cares what Reusse has to say?
I’m totally oblivous to any opinion phat pat has to offer.
