With the Cardinals finally deciding on which veteran southpaw they wanted for their bullpen, the Twins will actually get their supplemental draft pick. For a while there, I didn't think it would actually happen.

A type B pick is a sandwich pick between...

…the first and second rounds, isn’t it?

If so, look at who the Twins drafted recently in the second rounds: Jesse Crain, Scott Baker and Kevin Slowey. Get us one of those Dennys, PLEASE?

Yes

This pick will likely be somewhere around 45-55?

Sandwich pick

I don’t know where it will be slotted. Two years ago, there were so many sandwich picks, the second round didn’t start until the late 60s (Rams was chosen at 92). So that’s a worst case, somewhere between 30 and 60. Exactly where is a mystery. What’s the rule?

Oh yes, Pick 21 Overall and then We don’t have to wait FOREVER untill we pick again…

My guess is that we will pick around 48-53 overall From the Reyes signing.

Gutierrez and Hunt

were our compensation picks last year. Promising so far, but too early for a real evaluation. I’ll be happy if our 2009 sandwich pick looks as promising a year later.

Cheap joke

Given Reyes’ girth, a sandwich pick seems appropriate.

Yes

And that pick should be a Hardee’s double beef Frisco Burger.

Keeping Reyes around probably would have been better than a draft pick.

absolutely not

we have guys in the Majors and Minors that can do just as good a job as Dennys did. Dennys was a great pitcher dont get me wrong, but now we have another draft pick coming and equally good LH coming up to fill the void. Plus, for the money and years Reyes wanted, its a good thing the Twins didnt keep him.
