The Twins will have plenty of Mondays off this year - but tonight isn't one of them. Tonight, the Blue Jays come to town; Kevin Slowey goes for the Twins, Jesse Litsch for the Jays. The game is on Fox Sports Net locally in Minnesota, and is also on the usual radio networks.
Toronto's gotten out of the gate pretty quickly this year, taking three of four from Detroit and then two of three from Cleveland.
Slowey got the win in last week's slugfest with Seattle, allowing fewer runs than Carlos Silva to get the victory. Litsch lost his first start, giving up five runs on a walk and seven hits over six innings against Detroit and losing 5-1.The details on tonight's starting pitchers, and the lineups:

even though I’m still all about Crede continuing to get the nod on most occasions. Gomez on the bench tonight, too.
I’m ready for Delmon Young to step up and be a bigger part of this offense.

He needs to be hitting his spots. If not, he’s a BP pitcher. As to his Velo, he’s topped out at 90, and hardly any movement on his fastball.

Slowey
His curve and changeup were a big problem tonight. He only threw those two pitches a combined 9 times, probably because they didn’t work when he did throw them: 4 hits, two balls, two swinging strikes and one ball in play for an out.
As a two-pitch pitcher, Slowey just can’t get it done.
Casilla has very quietly been bad this year and missed a lot of two-out RBI chances.
I hate to admit it, but Nick Punto hitting second is incoming.

That pitch was belt high on the inside half with no movement. It could easily have ended up in the seats, if Rolan wasn’t trying to just take it up the middle and tie the game.
I actually think Morales has been good in certain phases of the game. He’s good at blocking the ball, for example. But he’s got a weak arm and I’m not sure about his game calling skills.

That's why I hate litening to the radio.
I saw him hit that on TV and knew right away it was a warning track fly ball. Gordon has never been able to tell the difference between a lazy fly ball and a homer. He’s been broadcasting for, what 40 years?

If he keeps putting hi out there like he did with Rincon last year, it’s not just Bill Smith’s problem. It’s Gardy’s.

But Gardy only has the options Bill Smith gives him. Who else is Gardy supposed to go to? At least Ayala had several good years a couple years ago. Guerrier’s already been used, Gardy can’t just throw Crain and Guerrier out there for 3 innings every game, we learned to Joe Torre lesson last year with that. Who else is Gardy supposed to use? Dickey? Humber? No, this is a scrap piece bullpen with few great options to get to Nathan. Jesse Crain is by far our best shutdown setup option. That’s terrifying.
