Joe Mauer Goes Streaking, and Gets Compared With Other Hot Hitters Around The League
Joe Mauer has shown that he is the future of Twins baseball. His odd trait of hitting constant home runs is incredible. Lets look at his stats.
28 games, .414/.500/.838, 11 HR and 32 RBI.
It is obvious that this guy is the best in the Majors. He is averaging more than an RBI per game, about .40 home runs per game as well. He even has a SportsCenter commercial, which I note as a huge accomplishment. Only few people in history have achieved a SportsCenter commercial. People like Steve Irwin, David Wright, LeBron James, Jorge Posada, and Steve Smith to name a few. Here is the streaking link: http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/blog/big_league_stew/post/We-re-going-streaking-Joe-Mauer-owns-the-spotli;_ylt=At2c5AGXGqzHXp0Cjr_AQNoRvLYF?urn=mlb,167487
That Nelson Cruz guy from the Texas Rangers is kicking some ass, too. He has 7 homers, 5 stolen bases, 14 RBIs, and is hitting .296 on the year.
One of my dumb ass friends (who is an Indians fan) was arguing that Victor Martinez was the best catcher in the league. Lets cut to the chase, he isn't better.
Martinez is hitting .348, has 8 homers, and the most RBIs for a catcher, 37. Mauer, who was sitting out, has 32 RBIs. I mentioned earlier he is averaging more than one RBI per game. Even if Mauer gets into a cold streak, Mauer should catch up and pass him easily.
Mauer for MVP. Hallejuah, Lord!

Qualifying for batting title
At the his current rate of AB’s since returning, and after spending the last 15 minutes trying to remember the details from my 9th grade geometry class, I figured out (within, let’s say, 5 games either way) that Mauer will qualify for the batting title in after game 120, which is August 20th, at Texas.

Yikes. Your math is terrible.
Unless he takes significant number of days off, he’ll be qualified in another 45 games or so—mid July.

Thank you.
Note – This isn’t the real Gonzo. Tis Gonzo2.
"He didn’t call me or anything. It was an accident, but a lot of people would have called to see how someone is doing after they got hit in the head. Especially if they had to go on the DL." — Morneau on pitcher Ron Villone after an April 2005 beaning.
