"Good afternoon. Thanks for coming to the announcement that, in light of the Brett Favre situation and its unsettling impact on the people of Minnesota, I am signing an executive order requiring St. Paul native Joe Mauer, in addition to catching for the Twins, to also play quarterback for the Vikings.
These are tough times, Joe, and everybody has to dig deep."

They'd win
They’d do well, Mauer can throw a frozen rope into traffic. He was a hell of a QB. if this were 1950 he probably could have been one of those legendary Otto Graham or Jim Thorpe level multi-sport athletes with football championships, baseball rings, and Olympic medals.
I’ll take an over .400 BA and 12 HR’s in barely a month of time for now.

well football championships and olympic medals at least
it doesn’t look like any baseball rings are in his future with the way this team is playing

If I remeber right
Mauer had a scholarship to play football for the Gators if he decided not to sign with the Twins. If I remeber right, that was considered to be a real tough decision too.

Wrong School
He could’ve been a FSU Seminole, not a Gator.
I’m sure he could’ve been a Gator. But Bowden still has a scholorship out on the table for Joe if baseball doesn’t work. Hahaha. Dream on, Bobby..

Decision
Baseball has clearly been a good decision for Joe, but yeah, I got to see him play QB in he state championship game his senior year, when the Twins knew they would probably draft him, and wowee, could he throw the ball.
