Should Twins sign Glavine?
Braves release Glavine. Should the Twins be interested?

He's just getting healthy now,
or at least he says so. If the Twins did sign him, I’d think they’d at least want to try him in the rotation…which would mean either Swarzak would go back to the minors or Perkins to the bullpen or both. Or, hell, Liriano to the bullpen.
I’m not sure Glavine, at a few million bucks, is going to be a real upgrade. He could pitch better than Liriano has to this point, but Liriano still has upside and I’m not sure I’d want to use a roster space for Glavine.
If he were happy to come in just as a bullpen arm, I’d definitely consider it. Same with Pedro Martinez. But as a starter, I don’t see him as a clear upgrade through the rest of the year.

Good god, no
The guy is 43, and he had a 1:1 strikeout to walk ratio last year. Sometimes it’s over.

There's a worthless stat
It happened over a small amount of starts, the oft-invoked “small sample size.” All it took was two games in which the umpires didn’t give Glavine the outside of the dish, and a few inches beyond.
It was about the money, and stats are worthless here. The only way to know if he’s of any help is to see him pitch. I haven’t. Have you?

Last thing
Glavine could help several teams (the WHite Sox come to mind, they still need a no 5) but the Twins don’t need yet another back end starter, they have like 6 already.

Against the grain
He could be a positive influence for Liriano showing him how to pitch with lesser stuff.

Depth
I don’t think Glavine would be an upgrade over what we’ve currently got in the rotation, but he would give us depth. At this point, we don’t know how Swarzak will react to his last outing, nor do we know whether Perkins will come back at full strength. I’d be tempted to take a flyer. If he works out, we just improved our bullpen depth with Swarzak or Perkins. In the end, it would be real difficult to pull the trigger though.

He’d want a few $$ thrown to him. idk, unlikely should they do so.

Leadership
I am for it-in terms of leadership. I think we have a great crop of 2nd and 3rd year guys but Baker does not have the voice of a veteran and I think our pitching staff would thrive with that kind of experience and leadership. Just a thought.
