Uh...

The MBL Network did a red carpet show. Where baseball players were stopped and interviewed…on a red carpet…on their way to the ballpark….on a red carpet…What in the hell?

He's been

He’s been one of the best first basemen in the league this year, if you ignore the help from the home park.

"You can't sit on a lead and run a few plays into the line and just kill the clock. You've got to throw the ball over the damn plate and give the other man his chance. That's why baseball is the greatest game of them all."

Oh I think he is great

just not as good as Youk or Morneau.

Mauer just scored, thanks to Hamilton and Linc. not covering 1st.
Weird start to the game.

Mauer setting a screen on Pujols?

Did it look to anyone else like Mauer shielded the view of Pujols on that ground ball that Pujols hit?

I suppose there wasn’t much Mauer was expected to do except wait for the ball to go by but I think Mauer prevented Pujols from getting a decent read on the grounder.

Joe Mauer

Just hit a great double, first AL hit that was better than a single.

I would love to see

Papplebon give up a HR here, just to see him get all huffy. Dude is a meat head.

Just tuned in`

Here and on the tube. Looks like at this point here in the 8th Mauer has as good a shot as anyone for MVP.

by montanatwinsfan on Jul 14, 2009 10:42 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Perhaps.

The fella who scored Granderson could get it. Or a pitcher. Tough to say.

Baseball is the soundtrack to my summer.

by FoulJack on Jul 14, 2009 10:51 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Sadly

I’d guess Jeter at this point. Maybe Granderson.

by JonathanR on Jul 14, 2009 10:54 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Jeter?

didn’t watch but his line is 0 for 2 with no walks? I don’t know how he scored, pass ball to put him on, error?

by montanatwinsfan on Jul 14, 2009 10:56 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

HBP, FC, two runs scored. I guess that doesn’t seem MVP-worthy, does it? But whose line does?

I’d guess Granderson at this point then.

by JonathanR on Jul 14, 2009 10:58 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah, no one's does.

Granderson might get it for his triple, but Mauer’s line is the best so far (by default).

One thing for sure. After that inning it won’t be Nathan.

by montanatwinsfan on Jul 14, 2009 11:08 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Well,

Halladay wont get it he had a terrible line. 7 other pitchers look like they are going to tie at 0 runs against over 1 inning. Can’t figure out from the box score how you could pick any one pitcher out of those seven.

Jones hit Granderson in for an RBI, but went 0 for 1.

Mauer is 1 for 3 with a double an rbi and a rs. …

by montanatwinsfan on Jul 14, 2009 10:55 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I hope its Mauer,

2B and a run scored. Granderson had a triple that led to a game winning run scored. We’ll see. 1.1 more innings to go.

I'll tell ya.

I listen to a lot of baseball. Watch very ilittle. But that first cut by Ryan Howard on Nathan’s first pitch was one of the fastest bat swings I’ve ever seen. Big guy or not.

Nathan managed that pickle well.

I am glad he is ours.

Where are you in Montana?

I spent time in Big Fork and Kalispell a few years back. Crazy beautiful up there. Flathead Lake is amazing.

Live in Missoula.

Wife works a little in Kalispell so we get up there a lot. Beautiful. A little different from the farm country of Rochester MN where I was born and raised…

The flat area near Kalipsell between the

mountains is just amazing. I loved Big Fork too. Very touristy, but fun. The Garden Bar is great for burgers if you ever get up there again.

It really was a good catch.

by FoulJack on Jul 14, 2009 11:27 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

It was good.

But it wasn’t MVP worthy. But he did go 1-3 as well, so he had a decent night. Probably deserves it.

by montanatwinsfan on Jul 14, 2009 11:29 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

And his one hit (after a couple of FC’s) led to the tying run.

by JonathanR on Jul 14, 2009 11:31 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Crawford

Granderson’s triple went to the same place where Crawford made the catch. In fact, Granderson’s hit wasn’t as far and bounced off the base of the wall.

Crawford made the catch and Upton didn’t get to the ball. That’s basically the difference in the game.
