Final Twins Trade Rumors: Heath Bell, Mike Wuertz

25 minutes to go.

  • This is old news (see:  more than 20 minutes), but Buster Olney says the Twins are marking both Heath Bell and Michael Wuertz.  Wuertz was supposedly off the market since Monday, and with all the interest in Bell I can't imagine what he has to cost.
  • Wuertz should be arbitration eligible for 2010 if not 2011, according to his service time, which means he won't come cheaply.
  • Bell's service time is almost identical to Wuertz's, so...ditto.
  • Nothing new coming across on Marco Scutaro.

Reds acquire Scott Rolen.

What? Really? Nothing like wasting money and prospects on a move that won’t matter. Silly Reds.

No-Trade

I believe he has to wave the no trade clause

by WITwinsfan on Jul 31, 2009 3:49 PM EDT up reply actions

but why would the Reds want him

a little old to be part of a rebuilding project version 1K

Chris Parmelee...Angel Morales and another prospect

do it…That is kinda gutting our farm system..but what are prospects when you need serious help in the pen.

Morales is struggling in A-ball, but I still don't want to trade him.

He’s 19. I’d trade Joe Benson. I might even trade Ben Revere before I trade Morales. With Revere, at least you could be selling high.

Bell?

That would be a shock… Especially considering who the Twins are bidding against there.

3:00

and everything is dead…now we wait and see if the Twins managed to leak out a relief pitcher at 2:59:59.

Marlins acquire Nick Johnson

after Rosenthal and Morosi confirmed that the talks were dead between the Nats and Marlins.

HAHA Rosenthal and Morosi! Shows how much you know!

Kelly Thesier

says no more moves and that cabrera is the only move via twitter.

true

and I hope she is wrong. just thought I would pass the information along.

Thesier has access

That’s were main purpose. This type of statement is the type of thing verified by a direct interaction with a member of the Twins staff.

by DavidRF on Jul 31, 2009 4:29 PM EDT up reply actions

"that's her main purpose"

mistyped there.

She’s like the Robert Gibbs of the Twins. I don’t trust her for analysis, but as an employee of the team’s official website she gets to talk more to players, coaches, etc and collect quotes.

Alonso is not in the Rolen Deal...t'll be Encarnacion, Josh Roenicke, and Zach Stewart heading to Toronto

As for the Rauch Thing…i’m guessing using the report from the USAtoday’s Bob Nightengale…

by TonyO on Jul 31, 2009 4:21 PM EDT reply actions

assuming that if indeed they were talking

that Arizona will send him through waivers and then work out a deal.
