Peavy is a White Sock
Over at South Side Sox they're saying Jake Peavy is somehow a White Sock. I really like Jake Peavy so it's going to be tough for me as a Twins fan to see him pitch against us down the stretch. I can't really figure out how this happened since Peavy has a no-trade clause and turned down playing for Chicago earlier this season, but apparently it did.
If it's true, hats off the White Sox and Padres for making this move happen.

I guess its Peavy not Peavey
All part of the horrible getting to know Jake Peavy process :)

That's what I'm guessing
Double whammy, I guess we’re talking about a 1.5 run jump in his ERA as a result. Maybe that’s just the optimist in me…

Ankle
And he is coming off an injury. Does anyone know which ankle, or when he would be off the DL?

Not clear when he'll pitch again this year
Maybe another month.
Still, a front 4 of Peavy, Buehrle, Danks, and Floyd is pretty damn tough.

Very interesting
Peavy probably wont have much of an impact this year, with the injury and all.
It will be interesting to see how he does in the following years. He’ll probably still be a pretty good pitcher, but his numbers are inevitably going to inflate at the Cell and pitching to the American league.

It sucks that Chicago was able to pull this off.
Once again I’m left thinking, “really Twins OCab, that’s all you could get?” meanwhile the hated Bitch Sox get one of the best pitchers in the National League…
It’s hard being a Twins fan sometimes.

CWS gave up quite a bit...
—Richard: 25 year old swingman… ERA+ of 99 this year… 12-6, 2.49 ERA in AA-AAA last year
—Poreda: 22 year old starter… ERA 2.54 in AA-AAA this year, called up to majors, 2.45 ERA in 11 IP of relief for Sox
—Carter: 22 year old in A, pitching well, though… 6-2, 3.13 ERA, 10.9 K/9
—Russel:26 year old releiver. Pitched well last year in AAA/MLB, 3.20 ERA in AAA this year.
They put a lot of eggs into the Peavy basket.

There is 1 upper tier prospect in that group
Trades are not zero sum games.
The Sox didn’t touch Hudson, maybe their best pitching prospect,
Flowers, Jordan Danks or Dayan.
Richard should have a solid career in Petco
Poreda’s secondary pitches are still iffy
Carter is 22 in A ball. He better K a lot
Russell is org filler
The only eggs is cash which the Sox have.
Peavy is 28 and an above avg pitcher.

Of course, starting about August this time last year...
…all the way to pitchers and catchers reporting, you could find one person in these World Wide Web parts who though obtaining Washburn was a good idea.

+1
I was thinking the same thing. Remember when it was leaked last year that the Twins were after Washburn and we all couldn’t believe how stupid the Twins brass was? Guess there might be something to this scouting stuff after all. (Though I don’t think Washburn will continue at this ERA either.)
I have tried to take to heart this same lesson from the Denard Span story as well. From his numbers alone he looked like nothing, but the Twins always said he was a promising prospect and they were right. Doesn’t make up for all the things they’re wrong about, but it does make one want to treat them with a smidge more humility and respect, given that they do know quite a lot about baseball.
