Minnesota Twins Release 2010 Schedule; Red Sox first visitors to Target Field

The Twins have released next year's schedule on their official website. The Boston Red Sox will be the first regular-season visitors to the brand-new Target Field, opening the stadium with a 3:10pm game on Monday, April 12.  The Sox will also play 12:10 games on Wednesday and Thursday of that week, likely a concession to the possibility of cold night-time temperatures.

Cleveland and Kansas City are also scheduled for April visits to Minnesota.  Milwaukee will be the first National League team to play in the park, May 21-23; the team's return trip to Wisconsin will be June 22-24.  Atlanta and Colorado also visit  (June 11-13 and 15-17, respectively), while the Twins go to Philadelphia (June 18-20) and the Mets (June 25-27).

The Twins open the year April 5, at Los Angeles, then play at Chicago before returning home for the grand opening of Target Field. The traditional season-ending series against an AL Central opponent has been scrapped; the Twins finish the year with a four-game series against Toronto.

Other than the ending, its a pretty favorable schedule...

Bummer to have to end against Toronto, but with a five team division, one team has to play outisde the division on the last weekend and I guess its our turn.

We’re done with the Yankees and Red Sox by Memorial Day. It’ll be good to get those out of the way.

The “west coast road trip” is split in two this year. Each year, the team seems play poorly at the end of those, so that helps.

I mean, we still have to play everyone the same amount as usual, but no crazy sections that I can see.

*sigh*

I was really hoping the Twins would have a home game for my 21st birthday on July 6th.

Mets

I’m looking forward to Mauer and Morneau facing Santana. Too bad it isn’t a home series.
