Once again, the poll: Will they do it?
I've asked this question, in one way or another, twice this season. At the end of July, 45% of you thought the Twins couldn't win the division. Last week, 46% of you thought that they wouldn't.
Knowing what we now know - two back, seven to play, four in Detroit, etc. - I'll ask again, one more time.
Will they do it?

These questions are evil! :-)
Current odds are at 21%, but I still say they do it. Thankfully, its all head-to-head for the next four days, so no scoreboard watching.
In fairness, the July poll wasn’t worded as you’ve quoted above. I think the poll had more to do with whether we should be buyers are not for the coming trade deadline… “mortgage the future” was a key phrase in the yes column there. I thought we had a chance to win, but I associate mortgaging the future with “last chance” and I didn’t see any big deparatures this offseason.

I had to vote yest this time.
I think with how well the Twins have been playing (11 of 13 I think?) and how poorly Detroit has been over all the last few weeks the Twins have a real good shot at taking 3 of 4. Then I like our matchup home vs. royals better than them vs. white sux. The Twins have done fairly well against Verlander so he doesn’t scare me as much as he did early in the year and I even think they’ll do much better against Greinke after getting to see him finally.
Peyton's good but have you ever heard of Jeff George?

I voted yes because
at this point every kind of superstition and feel good kind of thing that probably is meaningless is very important to me.
I always loved that one.

I voted no...
…now if we win tonight, I may change that. Still a major uphill battle as we have to win 2 or more games than the Tigers out of 7. If we do win 3 of 4 head-to-head, it will then get interesting as we could certainly stub our toes against Kansas City. On the other hand, the Tigers would have to have their dobbers down if they lose 3 of 4. It should be fun the next few days if we get off to a good start tonight.

as happy as I am to have been wrong about the .500 ballclub actually being over .500 and still being in it,
I had no choice but to vote no. It is the pessimist in me.

as much as i love them, for my sanity i have to believe that they cannot do it this year. then if they do, i can be pleasantly surprised.

Hi there.
Are you new or someone already here with a new name? Either way, I like it. I wish he were a bit more fiscally conservative, but his environmental policies are fantastic.

I just mean I wish we were not doing a double header.
I will get NOTHING done tomorrow @ work.
NOTHING.
And if we lose the first game I will get nothing done AND be an ass all day.

hahaha
Foul Jack will be appropriate at least.
The double header is going to be hard. But think of it this way: Twins win both games and are tied for first place-in one day! :)

It's still going to be tough
If the season were one or two weeks longer, I’d say yes. However, not only do we need to win 3 of 4 on the road against a good team (when was the last time that happened?) we also still have to do better against KC than Detroit does against Chicago. Consider that we are going to have to start either Liriano or Manship on Friday and then face Greinke on Saturday, whereas Detroit will be able to start both Edwin Jackson and Verlander in their series. Also, consider that I gave up on the Twins a long time ago and they play their best when I doubt them!

no way
No way do the twins win the division. They have had to play out of thier minds to get to this point and they have. However the tigers are super at home and we have porcello and verlander pitching today. After todays sweep it will all be over for the twinkies but the crying.
