Let me know when we call up a player
that actually has a chance of helping this team in its chase for the division….
Valencia is a candidate to start at third next season but Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said earlier in the week that Valencia wasn’t playing great at Rochester and he wasn’t keen on using someone with no experience when the club is fighting for the postseason.
Pure BS…guess Ron forgets that our rotation is made up of 2 pretty green rookies who, even with their lack of experience, have put together some nice starts.

I think the difference
is that the rotation callups is/was out of necessity. If Joe Crede comes back, even if Valencia was up, Crede would get the playing time. That doesn’t, however, tell me why he shouldn’t come up when Rochester’s season is over.

Actually, if we weren't still in it, I'd leave him down there
Rochester’s season ends on Monday and might as well have him playing full time until then. Its only the argument that he’s needed now that argues for the call-up.
And if I may play devil’s advocate, he’s not can’t miss at this point. After his insanely hot first couple of week’s, he’s cooled off quite a bit in July and August. We wouldn’t be begging for his call-up based on his last 55 games. Its just the first 10 that are buoying his numbers. 55 games is not a long time to spend at a level before moving up.
We’ll see what happens Tuesday when Rochester’s season is over.

its not that he is a can't miss prospect
its that he likely has a better chance of helping the team than Matt Tolbert, for example. I have hear the “he needs to play every day” rationale, but come on, 3 or 4 more games in AAA arent going to make or break him. There isn’t a real reason that he can’t play 2 or 3 games against the AAAA Indians.

OK... maybe its an option/roster thing then...
Tolbert’s been up this year already and he’s on the 40-man. I sincerely hope Tolbert is only used as a pinch-runner for the next few days.
Who can we expect on Tuesday? On the 40-man include:
Gabino
Swarzak
Butera
Pridie
There’s a number of guys on the 40-man who haven’t debuted yet. Plouffe, Hughes. I don’t know how the whole clock thing works. For some reason Ramos and Romero are on the 40-man though they’re likely too low in the minors to get a call-up.

Forgot Tolleson
I think he’s also on the 40-man… don’t know what the clock is on him…

I think it's a good move
Bringing up Tolbert should help the Twins to be able to use guys like Morales, Buscher, Harris, etc. in pinch hitting roles more as he can step in and play almost any positoin. I’d really like to see Pridie get called up for the same reason so we can pinch hit for Gomez or Delmon then put Pridie in as a defensive replacement or even just a pinch runner.
Peyton's good but have you ever heard of Jeff George?
