Twinkie Town Growth, 2008 - 2009
We just received some data from the folks to count stuff like this, and I thought I'd share some of it with you. Were you a top member of the community the last two years?
First off I want to start with the big numbers, and then after the break we'll get into top lists for commenting, FanPosts and a couple of other tidbits.
2008
Visits: 269,863

2009

I think this shows exactly how strong our community is here. The environment that you all bring to this site--the intelligence, the humor, the tolerance, the lack of general assiness--is, as far as I'm concerned, the number one reason this site more than doubled in unique visits over the last year. Twinkie Town is one of the two premier Twins online blogging communities, along with WGOM, and I think you all need to take a second to pat yourselves on the back. Keep it up, everyone.
The attitude starts on the front page, and I want to thank Jon, Cmathewson, Adam P, Stu, Roger and AdamOnFirst for setting a great example. We all have different viewpoints and different things we want to talk about, but I think we all have the same vision for Twinkie Town and it shows.
Right then...onto the lists!

And it's fischean for the win! It's not even close. Fischean, if I could give you a high five or some free stuff, I totally would.
I think the fact that 2009's tenth most frequent commenter would have been third in 2008 speaks volumes about how active and deep this community has become. Congrats to 33MorneauMVP, caluofm and montanatwinsfan for appearing on both lists.

This is one area I'd love to see more improvement in next year. While the community is alive and thriving in the comment threads, I'd love to hear more of your thoughts and takes on what's happening in Twins baseball. We've already talked about the fantastic environment Twinkie Town provides, and with an existing readership this is a great place, for all of you fostering writers and people with something to say, to get your thoughts out there. Start a conversation.

Heard a rumor? See something on another site that deserves some attention? Whip up a FanShot, they take all of seven seconds. If you have your own Twins blog and are looking for some hits, plug your blog!
2008 was bigger and better than 2007, and 2009 trumps them all. Keep up the great work everyone--I'm looking forward to seeing what 2010 has in store for us.

Ummm...win?
Each one of those comments was gold, of that I am sure.
But really, thanks for running a great site. It’s [usually] a lot of fun to read all the different insights and opinions of fans from all over the place.

We can all agree that
all of your comments were gold or were gold, one way or the other.

well...thanks.

well, most of them were gold
But there were those times you had to defend Punto… though maybe those were comedy gold

What’s TT’s policy on steroid usage? That’s 2X as many as the next highest comments! I demand an investigation!

I think we should ask Jose Canseco about fischean

steroid use
is also a good way for fischean to meet those major league gorillas

I'm crushed
I remember the days of steriod free posting and while noone posted over 7000 times… it was better site...
Jesse
we should put the asterix mark next to fischean’s comments from now on. There is obviously something fischy (pun intended!) going on here.
Fischean: Anything you say, can and will be held against you in the TT steroid court of posting. If you cannot afford montanatwinsfan, our board will supply you with your own ally in your case (and it probably will be Randball).

I don’t normally post a lot but I do check the site often. From working in public relations and marketing, I can tell you the reason I check this site often is because there is always new articles or comments written almost daily. I’d like to congratulate the people that update the site and keep me coming back day after day! Thank you!
First off,
Thank goodness there is no objective ranking process for “quality” of posts because then fischean I would be dead last.

was there more...
yes sometimes work gets in my way of posting all of my quality comments >: (
Jesse and crew, you guys do a great job, and i love the fact that we have so many thoughtful commenters here all the time, it keeps others from spouting off goofy stuff like we see in the comment sections on so many other blogs/online articles.
Finally, I gotta stop commenting so much, my sheep wife is feeling neglected.

booo to that
in all seriousness though, I think she’d acknowledge she has no life :)

Something about those in glass houses is coming to mind here...
Or is the pot/kettle thing? Either way.

Wait a minute...
How did both “Andersklasen” and “TwinsTarget” make the 2008 list? The alias I am currently using was created a few months ago…
Formerly known as "Andersklasen."
Check out the best Twins' blog on the web: TwinsTarget.com.
Its not Twins Target,
its Twins Territory

To be fair
That happened to me when Less Cowbell, Static Cling was posting here last fall.

Only a little under 5,000 comments to catch up to fischean!
On the other hand,…maybe I need a hobby or something.

In my defense!
I really did have no life this summer. I was taking a crazy amount of classes, and there really is no better way to procrastinate (read: fail your class) than enjoying Twins baseball.

I fell
off my 2nd place commenting post. I must get back on top here! lol
Thank you Jesse, Randball, CMathewson, Jon Marthaler, and Adam Peterson for running such a great site!!! This is one of the first sites that I check when coming on the internet. It has been a joy to be here the past 5 or so years. Great content, predictions, analysis, etc. I have enjoyed my time here.
*Also, nice to see that I am in the top x of all the groupings above except for “Most Stories”.

what's up everyone
6th place on the year, oy. oy. oy.
good site, good fans, good posters, good game threads, it’s all good, baby.
Nice job everyone!
I am both appauled at my lack of inclusion in these lists, and also thankful for it!
Go Twins!
I always loved that one.
Second-most stories, two years in a row
I’d like to apologize to everyone for wasting their time. :-)

With growth like that
In a couple years, montanatwinsfan will need his own SB Nation blog.

I dont know about Sheepsville USA,
But Butte, Montana calls itself Butte, America. And that moniker is even more funny when you watch this hilarious clip from the daily show.

You just have to love this place…
I really enjoy visiting TT and I’m thankful that I have this great place to wave my Twins freak flag high. This place is not only fun but informative. Thanks for letting me post my stats-less opinions here. I’m looking forward to another season of fun game threads, getting no work done during day games, and plenty of g-rated and sometimes not so g-rated fun here. TT after dark or post game threads have been plenty fun as well (and I’d argue how fischean was able to log so many posts – Ha)
Only a few months until it’s time to break out pictures of LNP riding a unicorn…
Hey how many comments did I post?
I need to know how much I need to up my game to crack the top 10.
Do you want to know the terrifying truth, or do you want to see me sock a few dingers?
We were only given the top 10.
But I can tell you that you’ve posted 848 comments since you joined back in ‘06. Or was it ’08. I literally JUST looked at your profile and I’ve forgotten.
Haha
I’ve been around since ‘06, I think, and I’ve managed to equal a full month of fischean’s comments during that four year period.

Oh but it might only count the comments since the new site went up. Not quite as bad. I’m probably comfortable with the level I’m at. Maybe a few fanposts in the coming season. We’ll see.

You're right actually...
…join date is from Twinkie Town 1.0, but comments were only counted from 2.0. So your 848+ are from March ’08 onward.
