In our most recent run-off, Matt Fox won the 46th spot in this year's poll by one vote over Bobby Lanigan, 26-25. Congratulations to Matt and Bobby who is our 47th ranked prospect!
With only three rounds left in this year's poll, we will add Andrei Lobanov and James Beresford to this next round. Lobanov, 19, is a native of Moscow, Russia who has been in the organization for the last several years. Lobanov is a left handed short reliever who had numbers that were almost unbelievable this past summer in the GCL. In 22.0 innings, Lobanov had a 2-1 record, 7 saves, 0.82 ERA, 0.68 WHIP and 35K/1BB. Some question whether this young lefty throws hard enough to maintain this level of success in higher levels. But 1.59 strikeouts per inning and 35 strikeouts to 1 walk must get the attention of Twins management.
James Beresford was one of the more successful middle infielders in the organization. A veteran of last year's WBC and World Cup as a member of the Australian Team, the 20 year old Beresford was one of the better players for the Beloit Snappers.
Because this round is beginning late, this round will remain open until 3pm, cst, Tuesday, January 26th.
