Cruel, I just had to explain a big gasp to my wife and her friend
Baseball Prospectus did report that:
“The Twins have made so much progress in their attempt to sign catcher Joe Mauer to a long-term contract extension before he becomes eligible for free agency after the 2010 season that a deal is likely to be announced before pitchers and catchers report to Fort Myers.”
