Twins ink Jermaine Dye.
I'm halfway between Minnesota and Seattle and just heard a rumor from a player that lives here and plays in the central division. Jermaine Dye will get a two year deal from the Twins setting off another move. A trade with the Seattle Mariners for Jose Lopez, their best prospect (Carlos Triunfel) and another minor leaguer. The Twins would send Delmon Young and Francisco Liriano.
Twins Lineup
- CF Span
- 3B Lopez
- C Mauer
- 1B Morneau
- RF Cuddyer
- DH Kubel
- LF Dye
- 2B Casilla
- SS Hardy
Pretty impressive.

Dye really wanted to hit in Texas but it looks like the Rangers are signing Vlad...
…And the Twins are the only AL team that is good and wants more than a DH only.
By the way what are the distances down the lines and in the alleys of Target?
"Where's my doctor?"
Santa Claus!
Does it matter.
I helped build an MLB players offseason home for him and he shares an agent with one of the players involved.
"Where's my doctor?"
I'm within a degree of lattitude...
… And if it plays close to the same it doesn’t matter how close the fences are. April, May, September and October are going to be pitchers months.
"Where's my doctor?"
Count me a skeptical
Seattle is allegedly defense-centric. How and why would they want Delmon? The Twins wouldn’t give up on the kind of potential that both Liriano and Young possess. Dye has been exclusively a RF for years and the Twins already have a RF.
I just don’t buy this.

yea me either
but its kind of exctiting to think about because i do feel something is going to happen and well vlad did get offered a contract by texas
I really hope
that something along the lines of what mw3 said happens. I like the sound of that lineup.

I imagine if this goes down, Kubel plays left and Dye DHs
too bad we can’t have 2 DHs
Noooooooooooo !!!!
this better be a rumor
it can’t be true
signing of Dye and trading for Trunifel and another
for Delmon Young and Francisco Liriano …. ?
no way
I'd rather have Nick Punto playing 3B and Felipe Lopez playing 2B
than Punto playing 2B and Kouzy, Crede, DeRosa or Glaus playing 3B.

I disagree
Lopez is a slightly above average 2B with a decent contract roughly equal to Iwamura. The reason this makes no sense is there are equivalent free agents available. I wouldn’t consider this until Lopez and Hudson are off the board. .

I'm...
On board with this deal, except I’d rather see Perkins than Liriano go, and don’t think that would change the shake up of the deal much, except maybe throwing a prospect in, not a high one. Making it Perkins, Young, and low to mid-level prospect for Lopez, Triunfel, +1. That would give us a more consistent pop in the outfield, to go along with our already consistent Span, and mostly consistent Cuddy. It would enable us to have a few more homers in the lineup, and it gives us our third basemen for a while. Lopez is only 26 and hit 25 homers last year and batted .272 if I remember correctly. As for Defense, Dye can’t be much worse than Delmon, and his bat would make up for it, moreso than Delmon’s does. I see a lot of potential from Young, but for some reason he isn’t willing to tap it, and I think that if we send Liriano, It would suck, but it’s hard to get a gauge as to what he actually has, and if it’s Perkins we lose, Oh well, we have been pretty much privy to that fact from the start of the offseason. Ultimately I think this is a good deal, and enables us to put a strong lineup stacked with hitters on the field…although I must say that the lineup posted is flawed. Everyone knows Punto will start at second not Casilla unless we sign a real second baseman.
Good god no.
Lopez: Primarily a second baseman, exactly 25 innings at third base in his major league career. Career .303 OBP. Some pop for a second baseman, pretty worthless as a third baseman offensively until his .191 ISO rating last summer. He’ll just be 26 this year but, with a bat in his hands, his upside is Joe Crede. But he’s not Crede with the glove.
Triunfel: 19-year old MI prospect who didn’t play much last year, doesn’t walk. Good contact hitter.
Dye: Turns 36 later this month. Played RF exclusively since 2003. Exposing his already terrible defense to more action in left field is just stupid.
Those three (plus another minor leaguer) aren’t worth Liriano and Young. They just complicated things, give us filler that we don’t need and raise the payroll.
unless
we put Dye at DH, Lopez at 2B, Punto/Valencia at 3B, and Kubel in LF. That might actually be a very nice lineup (minus Lopez/Punto). Send Ms Perkins, Plouffe, Young. I think I would actually like this trade – at least for a while.

at least for a while
until Delmon suddenly turns on the heat and starts bopping 25 homers a year with a .330 OBP.

not buying this
Besides the obvious question of credibility, this one looks pretty dumb.
Triunfel hasn’t exactly been stellar, his big sell is that he’s held his own while being much younger than his competition. He could turn into something nice, or he could be Luis Rivas. I wouldn’t trade Liriano for Lopez. I’d give them Perkins, but that would be it. Why would Seatle then trade away the heir apparent to Lopez with him? This makes little sense.
me either
so where- in an outfield of bradley, gutierrez, and ichiro does delmon young play ?
Twins would have to put Kubel in LF instead of Dye (both are horrible in the field but Kubel less so).
Don’t believe this at all.
This is crap
How gullible do you think we are?
The mariners want Delmon Young less than we do
They are all about defense these days. Though they may take him as a throw in if it lands them Liriano.
Maybe instead we can send Delmon to the Royals for David DeJesus, they just signed Scott Podsednik.

Dye
is not much of an outfielder to begin with kubel would be a wayyyyy better option out there anyways. stiil though the potential on young and liriano is to tempting to give up, and i no its bullshit but i don’t want to see young hit 30 homeruns for a different team or liriano get over 2oo ks for another team. thats just me they can suck in a twins jersey rather than blossom in a mariners.
Want Railings got tohttp:// www.Kassonconcrete.com
O-Hud at 2B and Nomar at 3B!
This is what we need:
CF: Span
2B: Hudson
CA: Mauer
1B: Morneau
RF: Cuddyer
DH: Kubel
LF: Young
3B: Garciaparra
SS: Hardy
Now THAT would be a great team!

I think you just like to post a picture of your hot girlfriend.
As for Nomar, as much as I’d love to cheer for him (NO-MAH!!!) I don’t think he has much of anything left in the tank.
