Royals to Listen to Offers for Greinke

From MLBTR, I had no idea that KC was even seriously considering this idea. I thought it was nothing more than a pipe dream. However, I doubt the Twins would have the necessary pieces to pull off a trade for the 2009 Cy Young winner.

They have the pieces

Hicks and Gibson are both highly regarded prospects. In BA’s midseason prospect rankings, Hicks was ranked 9th, ahead of both Royals big time hitting prospects, and Gibson was ranked 22nd. But the Twins might have to package both to get him. Yankees would offer Montero, a top 5 prospect who was offered for Lee earlier. (Not sure if Grienke would be a good fit in NY but he also wouldn’t be the ‘ace’ with CC, Lee and Hughes. Ugh.). What I’m not sure is if the Twins will actually pull the trigger on any deal.

I really dont want to give up Gibson for anybody.

I’m kinda high on him and looking forward to see what he can do. But I would dump Hicks in a heartbeat for Greinke. Although I agree he’s not good enough alone.
