From the above link, Carlos Beltran could consider waving his no-trade clause if the Mets decide to trade him. Not that it will happen though. The stats on Beltran is that he has missed time during the last two seasons due to knee problems though the problems stem from him being an everyday outfielder with the Mets. Beltran is also due $18.5 million in salary in 2011, and does perfer to stay in New York. But if we lose Jim Thome, I think Beltran could make a good backup outfielder/DH.
In return, we would likely send Michael Cuddyer to the Mets, and in the best case scenario, we could get Mets GM Sandy Alderson to pay $4 million of Beltran's salary meaning that we only get to pay $4 million which is likely going to be the price of Jim Thome's 2011 contract. Worst case, we have our DH plus a backup outfielder that can allow Ben Revere to start the season in Triple AAA.
Personally, I think this would be a good deal though it is farfetched. Still Carlos Beltran makes sense in a Twins uniform. What are your thoughts? Comment below.
