Could the Twins shift around enough dollars to sign a big name like Derrek Lee?
Let the games begin.
At 12:01 eastern time this morning, free agency officially opened. With players now allowed to negotiate with any team they like, it won't take long for us to feel out how the market will shake down. Most of the top tier free agents will probably be gone by the Winter Meetings, which are the first week in December, at which point we might be able to start making better guesses as to Minnesota's direction for 2011.
The Twins have already made a pair of officialy moves by picking up Jason Kubel's option and declining Nick Punto's, while Orlando Hudson doesn't expect to be back and Bill Smith has noted a desire to bring back Jim Thome. Who's next?
