What an exciting race between Ben Revere and Alex Wimmers. For the first time ever, we had more than 500 votes (506), with Ben Revere collecting 161 (31%) to win the fourth spot in this year's poll. Wimmers was only fourteen votes back with Joe Benson collecting over 100 votes (114) for third place.
We will now begin eliminating players who didn't receive at least 2% of the votes, thus, Chris Parmelee and Deolis Guerra won't appear in the next round. They will be replaced by Max Kepler-Rozycki, Carlos Gutierrez and Adrian Salcedo, the players who were ranked thirteenth, fourteenth and fifteenth in last year's poll.
Kepler-Rozycki is a young seventeen year old outfielder who played as well as Miguel Sano last summer in the GCL. Gutierrez is a former first round pick who after several years of starting will now concentrate on the bullpen, where he just could see action with the Twins before the 2011 season is over. Adrian Salcedo began last season as a ninteen year old at Ft. Myers before returning to Elizabethton where he was the team Ace with Baseball America declaring him the eighth best prospect in the Appalachian League.
The voting for our Fifth Prospect will close at 3pm, Wednesday, December 15th.
