Twinkie Town 2011 Top 50...Prospect Number 6!

Last year's first round pick, Alex Wimmers was a clear winner of the fifth spot in this year's poll with 175 votes (46%) of 376 cast in this round. Joe Benson finished a strong second with 125 votes. No other player had more than twenty votes.

David Bromberg and Rene Tosoni, who both had six votes, didn't reach the two percent cut-off and will be dropped from the next round of voting. Carlos Gutierrez and Adrian Salcedo also received less than two percent, however, we will keep all new players for at least two rounds of voting.

Joining the next round will be Anthony Slama, Trevor Plouffe and Daniel Osterbrock. Slama has been one of minor league baseball's top relievers throughout his professional career. He also pitched briefly for the Twins last year. Plouffe was the Twins first round pick in 2004 and at 24 years of age has already spent nearly three years in AAA. Plouffe also made a couple trips to Minnesota last summer. Daniel Osterbrock threw his first professional no-hitter last spring in Beloit before moving up to become one of the top starters in the Florida State League.

The Top Five for our 2011 ranking is now set: 1) Kyle Gibson, 2) Aaron Hicks, 3) Miguel Sano, 4) Ben Revere, and 5) Alex Wimmers.

Voting for the sixth prospect will remain open through 3pm, Thursday, December 16th.
