Twinkie Town 2011 Top 50...Prospect #19!
In one of our closer votes of the year, Eddie Rosario collected 44 of 200 votes (22%) to be ranked as our Eighteenth best prospect. Trevor Plouffe was only six votes back with Anthony Slama and Manuel Soliman in third and fourth.
All of the players collected at least two percent of the votes so we will add only one player to the next round. Danny Rams was drafted out of High School in the second round of the 2007 draft. A power hitting catcher, Rams took a big step forward last year when nearly half of his hits went for extra bases (49 of 100). Rams led Beloit with sixteen home runs and twenty eight doubles while hitting .243/.310/.450.
Considering everyone is celebrating a holiday this weekend, this round will remain open until 3pm, Sunday, January 2nd. I would urge everyone to tell us who you voted for and why as well as players you believe should be condidered in future rounds.

Soliman this time
Leaning towards Tosoni or Hermsen next.
This was a triumph
I'm making a note here - huge success

I went with Tosoni
He had a pretty solid 09 (his 15 hr ranked 10th in the EL) and was playing well in 2010 until his injury. Should be at AAA next year (although I could see him beginning at AA).

+1
Been voting for Tosoni for a few rounds now myself. I used to always roll my eyes when people brought him up but listening to others & looking at his stats he’s intriguing as a potential big bopper or at least as a guy that could potentially hit enough to takeover for Cuddyer in 2012 (in spite of less than stellar defense). If he can stay healthy all year maybe he puts up another big year like 2009 (the only year he’s had more than 300 AB’s). He’ll still be @ or slightly younger than the average age for a AA player (24-25) if he starts there next year.
Personally, I see Tosoni’s potential (as described above) as greater than a highly suspect middle relief prospect (Slama), an infielder that hasn’t shown any bat for 7 years now (Plouffe).
I don’t like a 20 year old recently converted outfielder (Soliman) yet but Sickels does have him @ #15 and certainly the K rate in E-town was good. Interested to see how he does in Beloit.
i went with him too

soliman
and I’d take Pat Dean over anyone on this list …save Soliman.
Hughes,Slama,Plouffe,Diamond,Tosoni.
All guys on the 40man roster which mean any of them could be starting at with the Twins next year. Hughes and Slama I think will get playing time in 2011. I went with Tosoni, many like Benson but I think you’ll see Tosoni in RF with Minn. by years end. In 2012 he should be trade bait or trying for the starting RF spot. I think he’s a pure hitter, while Benson has trouble with his AVG.
Prospects
Okay, I’ve officially read about too many Twins’ prospects. This is truly a sign that something new needs to happen (with the big club).
SOLIMAN IS WORKING HARD
Soliman (5-2) was the star for Elizabethton. Tagged by these same K-Mets for five runs on four hits in three innings in his 2010 debut, Soliman was a different pitcher Sunday. He faced just one batter more than the minimum through six innings before loading the bases on two singles and a bean ball in the seventh.
"He’s only been pitching for two years," Twins manager Ray Smith noted. "Every time he goes out there he gets a little bit better. He runs the ball up there at about 93 (mph) sometimes and he’s got two different shapes to his breaking balls — a pretty hard slider and a curveball he’s working with. He kind of slows his arm down sometimes, but he’s improving. That’s what you want to see out of your players."
Anyone voting for Plouffe?
Lots of votes, no comments so far.

I'm a Plouffe guy
I think he can play a decent SS so his floor is a utility guy with some pop. Pecota has his peak as .260/.314/.417 which woulld make him a 1.5-2 WAR middle infielder. Not a star ceiling but I think he’s got a decent chance to be a productive major league player.
