More subtle hints from the Twins about trading Hardy
Over the past few days, we've heard almost nothing about the Twins but J.J. Hardy trade rumors. Most Twins fans are shocked - would the team really trade someone as valuable as Hardy?
But there have been rumors about trading or releasing Hardy for weeks. Remember how often Hardy came up in discussion as a non-tender candidate? Here are all sorts of other signs that the Twins were planning for some time to let Hardy go.
- Every Twin on the 25 man roster got an invitation to Bill Smith's holiday party, except for JJ Hardy. When Hardy asked Smith about it, Smith told Hardy the invitation must have been lost in the mail, and he'd send a new one. A few days later, Alexi Casilla got a second invitation in the mail. Hardy never received an invite.
- Hardy reportedly upset manager Ron Gardenhire by hitting the batting cages early in the offseason. Gardy called him to complain: "What's your problem, JJ? Don't you know that shortstops need SPEED? They don't need to hit!! You should be at the TRACK, not the ballpark!" Rumor has it that Gardy also suggested that JJ "try shoplifting" to improve his stealing abilities.
- Bill Smith was overheard telling rival GMs that "for the right price, any player is available... especially JJ Hardy."
- When ordering breakfast at a local cafe, Gardenhire told his waiter that he wanted "pancakes, bacon, toast, hashbrowns... no Hardy." At a confused look from the waiter, Gardy tried to explain that he meant "no har...d-boiled eggs."
- Joe Mauer recently told Hardy that he "wasn't sure if I could handle a long distance bromance."
- Bill Smith reportedly drafted a fanpost called FIRE J, but the rest of the front office stopped him before he could post it.

Top Ten Reasons Twins need to trade Hardy:
10. Facial hair did not develop alter ego
9. Wrist injuries were not sustained by sliding into first
8. Despite playing SS, hits ball out of infield regularly
7. Gagne’s working on a comeback
6. Gardy’s working on a comeback
5. For his salary, we could afford roughly 90 games of Cuddyer (no disrepect to Cuddy)
4. Glaring lack of game-163 game-winning singles
3. Why use UZR when there’s BYTO (battle your tail off)? Hardy was only the third-best SS on our team according to this metric
2. Morneau can’t stand the thought of sharing Mauer in a bromantic love triangle
1. Isn’t LNP

BYTO is a good stat
It proves my argument that Butera > Mauer
This was a triumph
I'm making a note here - huge success

We won't need him once we get Manny Ramirez or Thome at SS,

Great laugh
Jesse, post this to the front page at once.
GARY. Definitely have to fire Gary. Garter too.

Hardy's fate was sealed...
…as soon as Casilla endearingly pegged Gardy on the side of the head with an errant throw. Hardy should have known that was the true path to Gardys heart.

Forgot about that
I guess that shows “Getafteritness”
Maybe..
Maybe as it’s been suggested we’re actually getting Manny Ramirez to play shortstop? And hiring free agent Airwolf to be our 3rd starter?
you know about this right?
Maybe gardy believes in Ron Ron?

Also
The eBay and Craigslist postings “Dyno-mite! Slightly used JJ shortstop for sale, will consider any and all offers” were also a dead giveaway.
