Argh!

I have no idea why, but Damon has always brought out the worst in me. I can’t stand him. And now – 19 games a year. Yuck.

My thought:

Granderson: $5.5 million
Damon: $8 million

They were trying to cut money, so they traded their young star. Now they’re spending more on one year of a veteran.

That is a bit baffling.

I’m just assuming they needed to cut funds in the future as well. That’s the only way it makes sense.

So basically

The Tigers Trade

Curtis Granderson
Edwin Jackson

for

Jonny Damon
Max Scherzer

Wow, did they get the short end of the stick in that deal.

I love Twins Baseball and Minnesota Vikings Football.

not really

I’d still take Scherzer over Jackson any day. Jackson’s first half of the season was as big as a mirage as we saw all last year.

Scherzer is high risk

He has a long history of shoulder problems. He also lost 3mph off his fastball at the end of the year. Scherzer has more upside but Jackson is a surer bet to pitch 200 innings.

Granderson for years vs. Damon for one year

It’s poooooooor.

But i pick Granderson for years

Granderson was my favorite Tiger

He’s the kind of guy franchises like to build around. If you trade a guy like that, you better get major returns. I’m not sure the Tigers got enough. I’m not a huge Austin Jackson fan. I like Edwin Jackson. Not sure I buy Schertzer being better than E. Jackson, at least not in 2010. And his long-term health is an issue. This whole offseason has been puzzling if I’m a Tigers fan. Glad I’m not.

Can't figure.......

One, the Tigers cut budget, then overpay for Damon who had a low-ball offer from Atlanta (or two years, supposedly, for the one Detroit offered)

I don’t understand the need for a team to overpay a player (i.e. A-Rod) when no one else is coming close.

That darn agent ego.

It totally makes no sense.

But, glad it is done and over with. Damon salary wants in the daily sports ticker news was getting quite boring.

Good luck hitting homers in that ballpark

no short porch+no jet stream=many jonny damon pop-outs

From the only TRUE North division

That is by far the most

Ridiculous concept, to pay for damon over Granderson. Granderson is an overall better player at this point in Damon’s life. Damon has lost a lot of speed, his fielding is still good, but not amazing, his power is going to be subpar in Detroit, and dammit, Granderson played a season for the Mankato Moondogs. What’s not to love about a guy who played here for a short tick.
