No...

MLB ‘10: The Show is ONLY for Playstation 2, Playstation 3 and the PSP. It’s made by Sony.

Yeah, sorry about the confusion.

That extra text is from the embedded code. The only bit that’s mine is “Another video…” bit.

2K sports owns third party production rights over the MLB license through something like 2012 or 2013. So if consoles want competition for the 2K baseball series, then the consoles need to create a game themselves. It’s why EA Sports isn’t making a licensed MLB game.

I was thinking this was 2ks last year on the agreement, maybe it’s longer though.

Most places list 2012.

Here’s one example.

It looks like a few message boards think it’s 2010, but all the news sites I’ve seen say the deal runs 2006 – 2012.

After 2012, nothing matters anymore

We were warned!

WE DIDN’T LISTEN!!!!

Twins need to win the WS this year!

Vikings NEED to get Favre back too. 2011 could be their last shot! If we gotta go, let’s go out in a blaze of glory!

PS2 or no?

So I have a PS2, wanting to purchase this game already. (I know its defenitley not going to look as good as PS3’s) Anyway do you think its worth for me buying the game? I don’t usually spend time playing games at home thats why i still own a ps2, other than I’d love to get a head start into this fantasic season and this game looks sweet.

PS2

Pretty sure they do have a ps2 version. Although it is a shell of the ps3 version.

WOW

I am completely blown away. That’s the most amazing graphics I’ve ever seen. I the game play is half as good as the graphics, I’ll be amazing. I don’t have a Playstation, but if they do a quick update that puts Hudson’s bat into the line up, I’ll buy a PS3 just to play the game.

I haven't

I haven’t played a baseball video game in quite a few years, almost 10. I used to love the old Ken Griffey ones, which were silly and arcadey enough to be fun. The simulations kind of reached an uncanny valley for me though, trying to be close to the game, but still with too many annoying kinks to not make it.

So I now have to ask, do they have it down now? Do players tend to advance the proper number of bases (ie, can score from second on most singles)? Is BABIP about right? What about pitch counts, do you actually throw all the pitches or is it still basically only a couple pitches per at bat before it gets put in play?

In other words, I only want to start playing these games again when they are really damn good and close to real baseball. Are they getting there yet?

"You can't sit on a lead and run a few plays into the line and just kill the clock. You've got to throw the ball over the damn plate and give the other man his chance. That's why baseball is the greatest game of them all."

MVP Baseball was close.

I haven’t played one since ‘05, because I haven’t liked the look of 2K’s offerings. But this looks promising. I’ll do a review once I play it.

pretty realistic

This game is pretty close to what your looking for. They even added all the fun offseason stuff like arbitration and super 2 etc… The thing that makes the show great though is starting off as an 18 year old kid in AA and working your way up to the SHOW. You will struggle at first in the minors, but much like real life as you improve your skills you will start to succeed.

by .mnqwerd on Feb 9, 2010 5:37 AM EST up reply actions

Hilarious

This is how I learned about 25 man, 40 man rosters. Arbitration etc. Losing all your stud players, will make you learn the different contract types quick.

The Show is the best sports game available. NHL is a close 2nd, but in my opinion its as real as a sports game has been.

With roster updates, league play, and even creating your own player (RTTS) it gives you different options to enjoy the realism.

I suggest trying it out, if you can pony out the bucks for the PS3 and a HDMI cable. I couldn’t imagine playing it any other way.
