DEFINITELY worth looking into

"You can't sit on a lead and run a few plays into the line and just kill the clock. You've got to throw the ball over the damn plate and give the other man his chance. That's why baseball is the greatest game of them all."

Maybe

Nice numbers last year, but I would NOT trade Perkins straight up for him, as some have suggested.

If you throw out last season, his career ERA is over 4.00, and even last season his GO/AO was only 0.74. He strikes about 1 per inning, but being 32+ years old, he might not be worth it. Now, if they wanted to give him up for peanuts I’d do it. I don’t know why they’d want Casilla, but I’d probably do it for him if I’m the Twins.

I just have a hard time trading young pitching (who can start or relieve) for older pitching that’s only had one good (enough) season. We can use as many bullpen arms as possible just in case at this point.

I disagree

I think that Perkins straight up wouldn’t be a bad option. I agree the age differencial is a little unsettling, but whether the Twins and Perkins seem to be on good terms now or not I still think they want to move him. Our managment has a history of getting rid of those who don’t mesh well with them (Garza, Lohse, etc.) and I think they will look to do the same. And if Liriano can pitch like he has it will be a good deal, with Duensing still waiting in the wings as well. That said I think we can easily cover the bullpen internally, but if they feel they need to bring some one in this might be a good option.

Possibly

I hope you’re right. Ideally, it plays out as you stated it. But I think we can package Perkins in a more valuable trade for prospects at this time or even later this season, in the case of more injuries. If the only player they want is Perkins and they won’t take anyone else at all I might do it. I’m just saying that I would rather trade Casilla since we have plenty of utility options.

I’m all for trading Perkins, it just seems like Frasor is being a bit overvalued all of a sudden because of a) our need and b) his low ERA for the first time in his entire career.

Just some insight from a jays fan. We dont need anymore pitchers. We need a long term SS prospect or a young lead off guy.

Perkins for Frasor is a good trade but not what our team needs. I just dont see us giving Frasor up for a middle of the road southpaw. When we are stalked with middle of the road lefty’s.

I propose Delmon Young

Delmon Young
Rob Delaney
Carlos Gutierrez/ Jesse Crain / Rene Tosoni
Jonathan Waltenbury
adn their choice between Alexi Casilla or Glen Perkins

to the Blue Jays for

Adam Lind
and Jason Frasor

they’d have to enjoy having Waltenbury, and either Crain or Tosoni on their roster because they’re all Canadian… hehe

Wow Blackburn makes nearly identical money as Baker does now....

never

Morneau will never be traded for Overbay….now if Perkins for Frasor I might do, but definitely not throwing Morneau in there.
