Most

Most of the Red Sox opening lineup. Most of our B squad. Not good for the old mayor’s cup pursuit…

Red Sox

I like how the Red Sox fans/East Coast media thinks that ALL players long to play in Boston or New York. The linked article includes this phrase: “He [Mauer] likes Boston and Boston likes him.” Obviously, nobody would mind the money, and I think its true he would prefer Boston over NY, but where did the “Mauer likes Boston” phrase come from? So frustrating.

They can get away with that crap

because Mauer would never deny liking Boston if someone were to ask him. Liking Boston and wanting to leave the home town team to play for the Sawx are two different things…

by Stefa on Mar 14, 2010 12:18 PM EDT up reply actions

Exactly

I think he even said something last year to the effect of “I wouldn’t be against playing out here, but I’m not thinking about that right now, I’m focused on the current season”. If you say you would never go to Boston, you’re screwed, because the media would be pissed.

Fluff piece

speculating on what a wonderful thing it would be (for Boston fans) if Mauer signed with the Red Sox. The whole purpose of the article is to get Sox readers excited about the possibility, I guess the whole “He likes Boston” statement was just thrown in there.

Yeah I know

Its just annoying to see that. The writer just throws it in there matter-of-factly, as in “EVERYONE loves Boston, and would rather play there than their current city!”. I guess I just get jealous..ha ha. But who can blame me when it comes to Mauer?

by bbeeck on Mar 14, 2010 12:37 PM EDT up reply actions

Definitely annoying

I could think of a bunch of reasons I wouldn’t want to play in a media fishbowl like Boston or New York…

My favorite line:

“Is the hometown pressure too great to endure another 8-10 years of it?”

Yeah, that must be it! He’s leaving because he can’t stand playing in his home town.

What a lame article. I stopped reading after that.

Um... yeah, no.

I seriously doubt LEN3 is as pressuring as the notorious Boston media. What a bunch of idiots those people are.

After Perkins today and 'Cisco Thursday...

…is there any question, at this point, who will win the fifth rotation spot?

ok WTF.

I specifically came to a sportsbar today and as I sit, I am watching Pitt V NY. No Twins. Not on FSN, MLB, or 29. I am so depressed right now.

I always loved that one.

I think

its tape delayed on MLBN. Stupid. I don’t know what time they’ll be playing it at though.

Love the Huey Lewis commercial for Treasure Island

Huey lives here in Western Montana not too far from me. He rarely makes the news, but when he does it is always for an assholish reason.

Does he ever make guest appearances, local charity concerts or functions, offer anything to the local comunity? Nope.

He makes the news for continuously trying to block hunters and fisherman legal access to parts of his land by illegally fencing it, taking the issue to court (and losing), and other selfish, oddball things with his wealthy neighbors (Charles Schwab for one)
