Twins @ Marlins
First pitch is 12:05 in Jupiter today.
Jupiter is on the opposite side of Florida from Fort Myers, and thus is a three-hour bus ride. I don't know if anybody will get the option to skip the trip today, but if they do, they'll probably take it. (Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau are scheduled to miss out with very minor injuries.) Francisco Liriano is scheduled to start.
La Velle has the lineups. No DH, so Liriano (and Brian Duensing and Anthony Slama and Anthony Swarzak after him) will have to bat.

What a life, to get to skip out on the bus rides, because 3 hours is so terrible...

I don't understand why they don't have a DH for all preseason games.
If the Marlins really think it’s important that their pitchers hit, then they don’t have to use it. If, instead, they want to get someone else a couple of extra at bats, they can do that.

Delmon Young WALKS
Stop the presses. This is news.
Are you listening to the radio?
Or online? Because I’m listening on my ipod, and he’s still batting. :\
RonGarde: Target Field is going to be exactly like Progressive Field, except you'll have a chance to die of frostbite in the middle of July
I am listening on MLB Audio
I think you just gave me the ability to ruin this whole game for you. ;)
Haha, oh nooo.
That kinda sucks, though, that my audio is so far behind. And it’s Florida’s feed, too, so lots of non-Twins talk.
You’re not the only one ruining it.
RonGarde: Target Field is going to be exactly like Progressive Field, except you'll have a chance to die of frostbite in the middle of July
I'm listening to the Marlins feed too.
They didn’t have a Twins feed to listen to. (sad panda)

Just in case anyone is wondering
the Twins are in the navy blue BP-style jerseys, navy blue hats with red bills, and travel pants. Marlins in black.
Weird to hear announcers describe that.

Marlins 1, Twins 0 in the 2nd.

3 run HR for Kubel for those of you scoring at home
I mean keeping score at home, not “scoring” at home, because if you are “scoring” at home I hope you dont have the Twins Radio Network on.

You totally ruined Twins baseball on the radio.

Liriano as a closer.
So far, he has ended every inning in this game, either on the mound or at the plate.
Isn't having him bat a little risky?
He’s so fragile…

5 so far. Nice.

Kyle Waldrop is in
Liriano’s line for the day.
3IP, 4H, 3ER, 6K, 0BB
He gave up some hits, and a 2-run HR, but even the Marlins guys are saying his stuff looked great. Something like 38 strikes and 9 balls?
I didn't see it, obviously
but I’ll take a 6:0 K:BB every day of the week. If he keeps missing bats and not walking people, the results will come.

Duensing is in.

Duensing out to pitch
but these announcers just said “Jim Kaat’s out there today…I was just kidding about Kaat, it’s whoever is 52 out there”.

Nice to see Swarzak pick up a good inning.
With all the competition for two or three MLB pitching staff spots, he gets overlooked quite a bit.
Swarzak strikes out...oh, wait.
Really, though, good for him. I hope he can be a bit more consistent this year.
