Nationals Release Elijah Dukes - Option for Twins 4th OF?
Dukes still had an option left. So random...

former Twin Alex Romero
was also just released (Astros), and rates better defensively in each outfield position than Dukes, with similar on-base skills. Two years ago, Baseball America called Romero “the ideal fourth outfielder.” Sounds like a good fit to me. I’d love to see him signed to a minor league contract to compete with Jones for the major league roster.
Not a CF
Portes isn’t a good defender at this point. He’s not experienced enough in the outfield and he can’t play CF.
This is just the first wave of cuts, there will be several 4th OF available when the rosters are set.
Which raises an interesting point...
Supposing (is that a word) we don’t spend our potential Nathan insurance cash on a pitcher, do we use some of it to sign a cheap 4th OF? Seems like a spot that a playoff contending team would have filled a little better than our potential backup CF roulette situation.
I do like that Dukes can play all OF positions
Maybe he can’t play CF that well, but he’s better than Punto out there.

How the Dukes have fallen
I remember when he was considered as potentially part of a package for Johan.
