No big surprises, but for all the talk about the Twins' payroll, we're only 25th in rotation spending....

And well over half of the Twins' 12.79 million in rotation spending
will go to Carl Pavano, who is probably our 4th best starter this year. Maybe 5th.
Yeah, to get there:
Baker Slowey Pavano Blackburn Liriano
$3,000,000 $440,000 $7,000,000 $750,000 $1,600,000
um, that doesn't look so good. how about:
Baker: $3,000,000
Slowey: $440,000
Pavano: $7,000,000
Blackburn: $750,000
Liriano: $1,600,000
The White Sox
They have two guys in their rotation (Peavy and Buehrle) that will each make more than the Twins entire rotation.
One more thing.
I have to say… I think the Rays are getting the most bang for their buck.
They come in at 3.5 million less than the Twins rotation, and they have guys like Garza, Shields, Niemann, and Price? All of these guys had ERA’s under 4.5 last year. And two of them were under 4. That’s a very good young rotation for pretty cheap. The only team spending less on their rotation is the Jays.
Is it wrong
That I think the Twins should still get credit for Garza? I mean, yes, we foolishly and wantonly traded him away, BUT we also drafted him and groomed him! And he’s good!
