Twins 5, Orioles 0

Five Twins pitchers combined on a three-hitter, and Ben Revere went 3-5 with a double and a triple to lead the Twins. More numbers after the jump.

Star-divide

Today's pitching lines:

Revere, as mentioned, led the team by going 3-5 from the leadoff spot, and also demonstrated some serious speed in center field. Other hitters for the day:

Not until

Doug Mankayvitch comes back to claim his lucky spot

p.s. I didn’t find it necessary to spell his last name correctly :P

WE SHOULD TRADE SPAN AND BRING UP REVERE!

I'm fine with freaking out on Revere

I mean, a top five prospect showing some pop in spring training? Yeah, I like it. Particularly given our outfield situation should (god forbid) something happen to Span later in the season.

Revere

A look at his numbers so far.
5 of 16 = .313
1 – double
1 – tripple
3 – runs
6 – strikeouts
0 – walks

Good to see him doing well but he still needs work.

Revere

He better be careful. That much getafterit and battleyourtailoff, this early might challenge Punto for official love child status.

I like the hits

but 6 strikeouts in 16 at bats…I agree…needs some work. A promising start though.

But for a reserve outfielder and pinch runner type bench guy? I think that would be just fine. Bring him up later in the year to avoid all of the early arbitration year stuff (which i have no clue about in regards to super twos and all that jazz)

and stunting his

Yep

Revere’s ahead of his age with contact skills. Otherwise, he’s raw. His defense is two years away. Ditto for his base running. Gladden was saying he “doesn’t get cheated on his swing,” meaning he swings very hard, a la Gomez. That might work in fastball leagues like the FSL. But when he starts seeing a steady diet of breaking balls, he’ll be strikeout prone, which we’re already seeing this spring. I hope to God Span doesn’t get hurt. ‘Cause he seems to be the heir apparent and he’d be way over his head in the majors right now.

7 pitches

Yersterday Revere saw 7 pitches in 5 at bats. In fact he swung at every pitch thrown yesterday.

Can’t argue with 3 hits but you would think the leaf-off hitter would see a few more pitches.

Twins likely starters: 16 IP, 9 h, 5 BB, 12k, 0.00 ERA

Actually, unless you want to count Perkins or Duensing, there’s no one who’s likely to be on the 25-man roster who’s given up a run yet.

If they keep this up, the Twins will win EVERY GAME! 162-0.

Five consecute HR's from everyone in the lineup....

That’s 45 runs… but… what if everyone hit five consecutive grand slams? That would be 180 runs!!!

So, its do-able. We just gotta execute.

by DavidRF on Mar 8, 2010 6:15 PM EST up reply actions

And that is just in Spring Training

I think Luke meant that the Twins would win 162 games. Yes they could do it, but then look how close the NFL Saints came to a perfect season as Well as the NFL Patriots a few seasons ago. I would love to see a long winning streak though.

I heard Revere

who the Orioles announcers, for some unexplained reason, pronounced “Reverie” the first time he batted—I mean there was a guy named Paul once who rode horses, right?!—anyway, so he goes the other way and hits one over the LF’s head?

AG keeps saying “no pop” to these speedy LH CF’s—like Denard. I hope the kid grows a Morgan.

by Old Twins Cap on Mar 8, 2010 5:29 PM EST reply actions

I referred to him as ‘Reverie’ until I saw that youtube video with him being interviewed that came out last Spring. And then recall literally saying out loud, ‘Ohhhh, like Paul!’
