The Minors
Not a single thread for the opening day on the farm? I think not!
The Rock Cats also lost, this time 5-4. However, to get four runs off of Kyle Drabek is nothing to dismiss. Juan Portes hit a homer, Singleton hit a double, Joe Benson stole a base and Revere hit a single :) Carlos Gutierrez gave up 4 runs in four innings, giving up 7 hits and 3 BB, along with 4 Ks, and of course 6 groundouts to 1 flyout. Cole Devries pitched 1.2 innings giving up a run. Spencer Steedley pitched very well, 2.1 innings 4 ks, no hits, no walks no runs. Santos Arias pitched the ninth and gave up a hit and recorded a K.
Fort Meyers lost 18-3. Ramon Santana picked up where he left off with a double and a homer Nick Romero, Paul Kelly and Chris Herrmann had two hits a piece. The pitching is really the story here. Kyle Gibson struck out 7(!) batters in 3.2 innings, but walked 2, and gave up 6 hits and 3 ER. Looking at this, I actually think it looks pretty solid for a first start. Shooter Hunt came in, walked three and gave up a homer, and hit a batter... He didn't record an out. Ron Mahay is pitching in Hi-A, must be rehab. Hector Arias gave up 7 ER in 1 inning.
Don't worry this won't be regular, but it was opening night and I didn't have any other place to write down thoughts

Spencer Steedley
That just rolls off the tongue. Hope he makes it to the bigs so we can say his name all the time.
Also, I like Brock Peterson for some reason. Hope he does well.
brock peterson = next garret jones?
Perhaps?

Mahay
is pitching in High-A because he is getting ready for the season. Twins just signed him so he isnt ready.

Best place to be is Ft. Myers. First-class rehab. You can throw to instructional league batters in pick-up games. Weather is better than Beloit, New Brit or Rochester on the whole.
I would’ve thought that the Twins would’ve kept Neshek at Ft. Myers if they didn’t bring him north, slowly bringing him to New Brit or Rochester after the first couple of weeks. Again, training facility, lots of equipment, lots of pick-up games and such.

Beloit got a nice pitching performance from Aussie
Liam Hendricks. 5 shutout innings, 7Ks. 1 hit, I think.

In other news
-Shooter came back out last night and had more success. No HBP no BB, but 2 K. He did give up a pair of hits though. All in all, a scoreless inning.
- Billy Bullock pitched two scoreless, 2 hits, 1 BB and 1 K.
-Aaron Hicks is 0-7 with 6 Ks and a BB
