Game 45 (Pt. 2): Yankees @ Twins
Game One of the Yankees/Twins series at Target Field was suspended after five scoreless innings last night due to heavy rain, so the two clubs will pick up where they left off at 4:05 PM CST this afternoon. Brian Duensing will take the ball for the Twins while Sergio Mitre trots out for the Yankees in this shortened affair. Tonight's scheduled 6:10 PM CST tilt between Andy Pettitte and Francisco Liriano will still go on as planned, unless the early game stretches past its allotted time.
Converse about the final innings of the game that started last night here. Another game thread for tonight's scheduled contest will pop up in a few hours.

Bummer we didn't have a chance to take advantage of Baker's start
I hope the Yankees didn’t shake their offensive slump overnight.
and obviously
recent baseball skill clearly determines whether we should believe certain players or not
bullshit!

Holy Crap
seriously? an out? Honestly that’s just the kind of crap that happens to the Twins against the Yanks. I’m just surprised it wasn’t with bases loaded an two out bottom of the ninth.
Peyton's good but have you ever heard of Jeff George?
what happened in Mauer AB?
for those of us limited to gameday: how do you have 1-5 lineout?
He hit a very hard line drive straight up the middle
it it the pitcher in the small of his back on his follow through and it ricocheted in the air over to A-Rod who caught it on the fly for an out.
Jeez
They shoulda let people in from yesterday…it’s too empty there!
I'm still a Minnesotan at heart...
no doubt
I don’t know about you but if I paid for a Twins-Yanks game and only got to see 5 innings of it I’d be pissed off.
Peyton's good but have you ever heard of Jeff George?
Sure there are
That’s just in the playoffs that they won’t shorten them
different circumstance completely
If either team had a lead and they just counted it at 5 innings then I’d be ok with it. It’s the fact that almost half the game will be played today and they aren’t letting people in that paid to see it. This game should have started at 2 and then they would have had a couple hours to reset for the evening game.
Peyton's good but have you ever heard of Jeff George?
I was there last night.
I’m not pissed off. I got to see a squirrel and the first rain delay.

I am starting
to think of cuddyer as a automatic out for us.

C'mon man
you can’t diss a guy like that. He’s not like the other Yankees.
I'm still a Minnesotan at heart...
No, he's worse
He’s somehow immune from bashing by New York fans. Bah.
Because he's like Joe Mauer
He’s what’s right with baseball. I wouldn’t hate the Yankees if they didn’t buy every player they had and if they weren’t home to some of the most notorious cheaters and dirtbags. Jeter is a rarity in New York. I may hate the Yankees and the shirt Jeter wears…but I respect him for all he’s done in his career.
I'm still a Minnesotan at heart...
I knew it to.
Once Morneau was held @ 3rd…I’m like “delmon will come up, swing at the first pitch, and it will either be an out by Jeter or popped up.”
I'm still a Minnesotan at heart...
Wanted: someone with internet skillz...
to get “FireScottUllger.com” up and running.
I hate when people tell us their intentions to turn off the game.
Seriously. No one cares if you don’t have the stomach to handle 1 run games.
I'm still a Minnesotan at heart...
I get the feeling these 6 games against the Yankees are our season
for some Twins fans
lol it is to some
I think a lot would rather sweep the yankees throughout the season rather than win the world series.
I'm still a Minnesotan at heart...
I'll be very happy with a series win against NY
And a WS win

And Delmon swings at the first two pitches.

Well
at least we own Pettitte, so we’ll win tonight for sure. Just like last time we faced him.
/snark
God, this is so frustrating. F-ing Jeter.
If the Twins lose tonight
at least they can put in asterisk next to it because of the starting pitcher’s history with PED’s. And the starting third baseman’s history with steroids. And the umpires’ completely biased calls.
The one I hate the most is Derek Jeter.
He seems to have this invincible attitude because everyone portrays him as the definition of class. He really does seem like a self centered asshole though. Before the steroids stuff, A-Rod was considered classy and a nice guy, and afterwords people saw that he was all ego and cared way too much what the media though of him.

I have no idea what the hell is up with the umpiring.
That’s the most frustrating part. If we were outplayed, sure, it wouldn’t be as bad. But if the umpires essentially give the game to the other team? That’s something to be really pissed off about.
