Twins when Joe Mauer is out of the lineup

With Joe Mauer's shot as a pitch hitter tonight the Twins spent over a week without him in the lineup.  When he suffered his latest injury, which isn't uncommon for any baseball player.  Just ask JJ Hardy.  As a result, I was wondering what the stats usually are when Joe is out vs when he is playing.  Stats and a poll after the jump.

As of May 8, 2010 at 10:00 PM

Twins Record when Joe Mauer is in the lineup
2004: 20-15
2005: 64-67
2006: 81-62
2007: 58-52
2008: 77-69
2009: 74-67
2010: 16-7

Twins Record when Joe Mauer isn't in the lineup
2004: 72-55
2005: 19-12
2006: 15-7
2007: 21-31
2008: 11-6
2009: 13-12
2010: 4-4

I think this is self explanatory considering Mauer's injury history.  However every team loses their best player from time to time and the Twins are no exception.  With that said, it is very clear that the Twins could have used him in both 2007 and 2009.  In 2007, the Twins finished 79-83 and were 10 games under .500 without Joe and 6 games above with him in the lineup.  The 2009 season is more telling because Mauer missed April where the Twins were 11-11 and end up with a 13-12 record without Joe Mauer.  With him playing the games, we could have avoided game 163, and the Yankees in the playoffs.  Compared with this year, realize that we didn't reach 20 wins until May 22 last year.
