Twins Notes - StarTribune.com
Lots of news from La Velle E. Neal III, as usual. Among other must-read items, Jose Mijares is set to return from Venezuela and his family medical emergency by Friday.
Twitter / Ken Rosenthal: Clarification on Mike Lowe ...
More on Mike Lowell possibilities, from Ken Rosenthal: "Clarification on Mike Lowell: #RedSox willing to pay rest of salary, but only if they get better player back. Stalemate w #Twins, #Rangers". In other words, not dollars but prospects at stake.
Rosenthal On Twins - MLBTradeRumors.com

Gleeman goes inside the numbers to find out why Delmon Young has been ripping the ball as of late.

I don’t have a problem with Cuddy playing 3b. BUT—-I find it odd that his chance came with Valencia batting over .300? Where was Gardy when Punto was sucking early in the year. I don’t think Valencia is the next great 3bman But, damn it – let him get his feet under him and let the guy play. Look at Delmond – it sometimes takes a while to get use to big league pitching. Valencia has a chance to be a decent player, but he needs at-bats and a chance to make mistakes and fix them!
I think that with the lack of DH in Philly, Gardy wanted the best bats in the lineup.
And I don’t begrudge him that. I’d rather have Delmon, Kubel and Cuddyer in the lineup rather than sacrifice one of them for Valencia.
You're probably right.
Can’t really complain- it worked yesterday.

+1
That’s exactly it. Comes down to a choice of sitting one of Kubel, Cuddyer or Young in favor of Valencia. It’s a defensive downgrade with Cuddyer at 3B, but a major upgrade at the plate.

I'm just still stoked that we took a series from Philly...IN PHILLY.
Especially overcoming strong starts from Hamels and Doc.
Very nice series win, but I don't think Philly is the class of the NL anymore.
Braves, Cardinals, Dodgers, and maybe a few others are better. That said, there are few thougher 1-game assignments than the Phillies at home with Halladay pitching.
Agreed.
The series with the Mets will be tougher

Disagree
I think the Phillies can be as good as anyone in the NL, if Rollins comes back healthy and Utley hits like he can. The NL is very unsettled right now… there are some teams with strong records who probably don’t have the personnel to keep it up (including the Braves, despite their series win against us). St. Louis is good, San Fran and Colorado are interesting in the West, but there’s no clear cut favorite.
So far as the Twins though, it was a very good series win. It’s not a great park/opponent for the Twins’ staff (as Blackburn and Slowey demonstrated in emphatic fashion) and they had two unlikely wins, coming back from a huge deficit and then Pavano outpitching Halladay. I was at that game which made it even better from my perspective.

I'm stoked too
Yes, Philly isn’t quite where they have been the last two years, but in the end we beat Halladay and came back in surprising fashion.

Trade rumors...
sweet…I like this new Twins management style. They are starting to run the team like a big league team and I like it. If we are going to keep coming out and spending the bucks on the stadium, we want a real team to go with it and this is refreshing!
